my boss loves AI and he uses it for everything. he made some stats graphs and summaries, and he was bragging how he got AI to make them errorless: he tells it to check for errors and makes it swear it’s accurate… while we were looking at a graph where the y column numbers were all fucked up

i quite liked element as a replacement for whatsapp and discord when i got a few people to switch. just had too much stability issues at the time and they went back. will never get them to switch again…even with ads and age verification crap going on.

didn’t know they added kernel anticheat to gta online, thought they just disallowed linux players. i had 5k hours on it, didn’t really play anything else for almost 10 years. dropped it entirely that day because it’s not worth using a worse OS, and turns out single player is more fun anyway with mods. will also pirate gta 6 and play it without windblows, suck my shrimp rockstar.

same here. i can play it 30 mins max and then i get very nauseated. and you can’t really get anything done in that time.

AI generated detail is not something anyone wants in an actual camera, it usually looks odd. but i doubt 180mp vs 50mp is going to make much difference other than massive file size

my kubuntu laptop gets like that every time i close the lid and wake it up. pleasantly surprised it hasn’t happened on ultramarine kde on my desktop…although it has a ton of different issues

to be fair, during the past few years that I’ve used mint and kubuntu, not being able to shutdown, restart or suspend has been pretty a common issue 😅 so it’ll be a nice familiarity for people migrating from windows

cost of living in most of these countries is massively lower than in US, even without counting cheap or free healthcare and schools

my first pc was a vista laptop, i downloaded some awesome windows themes and cursors from deviantart. once i tried to replace the start menu orb, but the image file i replaced must’ve been the vista logo that comes up at boot. it didn’t boot anymore.

200 km range in the summer means 100 km in the winter. i live in finland and i frequently need to drive 100+km away from home. nearest ikea is 130 km away, relatives living in other cities, etc. i imagine it’s the same for a lot of people, not just in the US.

ahhh I’ve been waiting for a new layout, too bad i probably won’t get to use it since they won’t fix the bug/feature that keeps the pc awake and screen on with a black image after an episode finishes (when autoplay off)

my apartment stays at 22 C with heater on only in my bathroom, and it’s -20 outside. imagine how nice and warm it is in the summer with this level of insulation

hated my 3060 ti because of the ridiculously loud fans. the lowest speed for the fans was 1600 rpm and at that speed it howled like a wolf. it would frequently turn them on even when idle as the temps went above 55.
very happy with my new sapphire 9070 xt, it stays perfectly silent no matter what i throw at it.

instead of a destructive code, GOS should allow a code that will automatically open a secondary profile. wouldn’t get the user in trouble

- Comment on Microsoft’s latest Windows 11 update improves and breaks dark mode 3 months ago:
yes i have launched it from terminal. it only launches with sudo, it works completely normally then. funny that it nags that it’s unnecessary to run it with sudo. without sudo it’s just silent, nothing appears in terminal.
there’s also 4 updates always available, but they keep coming back after restarting discover. sometimes it gives an error complaining about color schemes, wallpapers, cursors etc. even if I remove everything i downloaded…

i could make a mean comment, but i recently switched from mint to ultramarine kde and i could swear it’s buggier than w11. literally every time i look at it wrong i need to reboot.
