Kyoani added that horse just to flex, didn’t they?
Last episode Yosuke reacted very dramatically after seeing Saki, and now Saki says she wants to slap him. Looking forward to learn more about the conflict between the siblings.

In awe with your ability to call Yosuke husbando material.

Whatever is wrong with Yosuke is obviously fun; I enjoy his theatrics. But this episode made feel so bad for him my eyes are welling up despise all the ridiculous faces animators put up to make the audience laugh (or cringe).
Thank you, Kihachi, for giving Yosuke the catalog, and showing us what cutie we’ve lost. I’m devastated and gonna mourn for a week.

I wonder if the sweetheart Seiroku was talking about is Noriko, after all, and if Kengo married her partly to prevent her betrothal to Yosuke, who went for Inako in turn, and that’s why Noriko helps Inako in every possible way.
Ah, Kengo blaming himself for something out of his control, a classic. Kihachi took it as a champ, though. Thanks to Inako Kihachi’s even started to believe in Seiroku’s confidence in his little brother’s inventiveness to the point of letting go of the electrical catalog.
However, I don’t think Yosuke even cares about the promise between him and Seiroku of bringing electricity into the world anymore. Seems like his only goal is to bring Seiroku’s doll(s) to life with electricity.

Obsessed with that old-school training montage.
You should have chosen between those two garments, Izo. Now look what stage of Yosuke fan service we’ve reached.
Peak girls band episode.

Tonari no Yokai-san, a slice-of-life drama with mythological elements about supernatural beings and humans peacefully co-existing in the modern world. It’s sad, and beautiful, and heartwarming; one of my favourite shows of 2024. People who liked Natsume’s Book of Friends might enjoy this one as well.

Not only it is funny with perfect comedic timing but it also has one of the best direction for a show on a small budget that makes moving pngs work in its favour. OP and ED are fun. It’s an endearing show.

I love how Inako goes the whole episode with those old shoujo eyes.

They should try using the power of words instead of electricity for the liebe thing.
This episode isn’t just hilarious, it’s the I See No Difference Love Is Love Edward Elric meme, and I’m here for all of that.

Oniyasha’s search for “good” always brings some interesting commentary on art. This time it was tradition vs. innovation. Zoujirou might have won by performing for the audience and sticking to tradition, but something new will eventually bloom and be accepted by the masses. I wonder what Oniyasha makes from his loss and Zoujirou’s words.

No, but it looked like some kind of puppet to me. He wouldn’t have Seiroku’s actual corpse??? Or parts of it? That would be too unhinged, plus, how would he preserve it? However, according to Yosuke’s reactions in this episode it seems like he wants to revive Seiroku (or Seiroku’s puppet) with electricity or something. What do you make of it so far?

Themes
You and I Are Polar Opposites Season 2 ED: “Unmei no Kimi” by Mega Shinnosuke - my favourite theme of the season. I never skip it. Honda’s aura? Unmatched.
World Is Dancing OP: “Shuushou” by Macaroni Empitsu - mesmerizing visual mix, and the song really complements it.
Draw This, Then Die! ED: “Conifer” by Regal Lily - although its OP and ED are quite similar in style, I prefer Regal Lily’s song.
You and I Are Polar Opposites Season 2 OP: “Neko Jarashi” by 7co - not as visually impressive as the first OP but still very fun. I like the outfits and how the credits are incorporated into the scene with different typesetting to match it.
Jaadugar ED: “Hoshi” by Ziyoou-vachi - pretty and bittersweet.
Please Excuse My Younger Brothers ED: “Clover” by Reira Ushio - warm and cute.
Lara’s OP and ED are wonderful visually, but I don’t care for the songs so I rarely watch them.
The Elusive Samurai Season 2 OP and ED are slowly growing on me, but I knew I wouldn’t like them as much as the first season themes.

Seiroku’s mannequin in the basement, holy shit. Yeah, Yosuke is a full-fledged yandere. Bye-bye to my dreams of redeeming him to healthy levels of whimsy.

The epic return of Suzuki the Shipper!
Taira’s and Honda’s bits were great. Made me think of The Ramparts of Ice.
I liked the first season but this one makes me wanna explode from diabetes into a ball of pink cotton candy that gets dissolved in a river after an oblivious raccoon puts it into water; it’s so so soooooo good.

Luckily, I haven’t read this manga just yet, so I can go in blind.
Shoujo romance adaptations almost completely shifting to j-drama coincided with my anime slump, so I’m extremely happy to see shoujo renaissance happen in real time. Hopefully, with Tamon’s popularity and MAPPA adapting Fall in Love, You False Angels more and more shoujo anime start to look good; this key visual looks somewhat promising.

I’m just gonna ignore the shut-up-and-calm-down kiss because I’m familiar with old shoujo antics and say that it was nice to see Yuri grow some spine. Too bad an awakening from the shock of being sent to the foreign lands of very distant past had to happen through Tito’s brutal death. Poor kid.
I don’t feel like committing to 28 volumes of the manga to see how Yuri’s adventure unfolds, so I’ll be following the anime. Guess it passed a 3-episode rule for me. At times it’s so ridiculous it amuses me greatly.

Oniyasha noticing his father’s experience was a satisfying moment.
Loved what Kanami said at the end of the episode. Didn’t expect anything less from the guy that recognized Shirabyoushi’s work and reprimanded Oniyasha for his selfishness. That soundless laugh was weird, though? Is he that excited to see his son stepping on the path to greatness and becoming his potential rival or something?
- Comment on [Episode] Sparks of Tomorrow • Nijusseiki Denki Mokuroku: Eureka・Evrika - Episode 3 discussion 1 month ago:
Seiroku not coming back from the war was so traumatic for Yosuke that it completely rewired his brain - and changed his hair colour as per 2nd episode’s opening sequence - so that his already strong feelings (of love? adoration?) for Seiroku turned into an obsession with the promise between them. The promise he clings to as the only thing that still connects him to Seiroku and which he considers his and his alone and doesn’t want to share with anyone. I mean, liking a handsome guy with a handsome voice is basic, but at least Yosuke’s not normal about it.
Anyway, sorry for rambling, he’s just so entertaining to watch, and I’m happy to see people acknowledging it instead of finding him off-putting enough to consider dropping the show.

The art direction of this anime is exquisite. I’m starting to like it more than The World Is Dancing.
I’ve already set my eyes on Suzu’s resourcefulness, and she’s finally got more screen time to shine.
Is Yosuke keeping Seiroku’s framed picture on his table?
Finish the phrase, Kihachi! He is what? HE IS WHAT!?
Boy, was I wrong about Yosuke. He’s such a fascinating antagonist. One more episode of his antics and he’s becoming my favourite character of the season.

Last week’s premieres
I Want to Love You Till Your Dying Day - one of the protagonists is how old? 10? Yeah, not sure if I want to continue this.
The Ghost in the Shell - the story itself wasn’t hard to follow, but the whole episode looked so visually busy it was overwhelming at times. Not completely bought on it just yet (might be due to my falling out of love with cyberpunk some time ago), but it was a prologue, and I’m really digging the art style and this goofy version of Motoko.
Red River - I’m yet to see why shoujosei fans praise this story. The MC is frustrating, but that means she has a lot of room to grow. As for the direction and animation, I wish they left old shoujo alone at this point, it’s a product of its time and they can’t – or don’t want to – do it justice; better focus on adapting modern titles.
My Stepmother and Stepsisters Aren’t Wicked - liking it so far. I don’t even mind if the joke repeats itself in many different ways, but there are hints for something beyond that.
Love Unseen Beneath the Clear Night Sky - bland. Drop.
Also dropping all three fantasy romances - Oblivious Saint, Kimiai and The Ogre’s Bride - from last week’s drop zone. Any other season I’d probably let my inner raccoon out and go, yay, my trash, but this one offers so many things to be excited and joyful about I’m struggling to justify watching these. Might pick them up again, though, if I’m too bored between seasons.
