Oh, I love how on point your comment is. It is real. I can’t stand Minato at the moment because he reminds me of my past self, who I sometimes judge too harshly for being a people pleaser that couldn’t say no. I do wonder, though, if his backstory will be enough to make me sympathize with him again. And Momoka is… well, Momoka. I don’t hate her, either, but it’s mostly because I see her not as a character but a plot device.

I resign from being a Minato apologist after this episode. Couldn’t he just say no a couple more times until Momoka gets it? A chronic people pleaser. Ridiculous.

Characters introduction was pretty great, I’ve already remembered everyone. The seven knights have odd names. Baribara just named them based on what she felt in that particular moment with not much thought given, but it’s easy to grasp their personalities this way right from the start.

The colour palette with no shadows looks lovely and the character designs are simple, yet quite charming. One fascinating detail I noticed is how the seven knights have distinct mouth designs. Those are usually pretty uniform and don’t really stand out much.

A teacher-student trope added to the already established step-siblings one? Bold move.

I don’t know what’s funnier, Rui sleep-eating Ito’s Valentine’s choco or Gen force-feeding Ito cookies in his unfazed fashion. Now she also has to prepare a White Day gift. The girl can’t catch a break.

So happy it’s two cours. I wasn’t ready to part with Rui’s brattiness and Raku’s mischievous nosiness. New themes are lovely. Previous ones were sweet as well.

Personally, I didn’t care for yuri because the chemistry between Lara and Mari was practically non-existent, so the final message was fine in itself. However, such ending is good in a vacuum – the execution and all the build-up weren’t a good match for it.

A steam body and an electric brain weren’t enough, so Yosuke needs a soul now? He’s been acting creepy in the last couple of episodes, but this one completely knocks it out of the park. Which is tragic, because it was fun seeing Kihachi boss Yosuke around and the moment when they switched to first names was so hilarious in another timeline they could’ve become friends that gush about their obsessions and come to an understanding.

Yosuke is so far gone I wonder how badly it ends for him. It should end badly for Izo, as well. He understands what Yosuke is doing is wrong but still enables him; his devotion is nauseating.

Honda was adopted the second time.

I missed friend group interactions; last couple of episodes were too blatantly divided into three main couples segments.

Kyoani added that horse just to flex, didn’t they?

Last episode Yosuke reacted very dramatically after seeing Saki, and now Saki says she wants to slap him. Looking forward to learn more about the conflict between the siblings.

Whatever is wrong with Yosuke is obviously fun; I enjoy his theatrics. But this episode made feel so bad for him my eyes are welling up despise all the ridiculous faces animators put up to make the audience laugh (or cringe).

Thank you, Kihachi, for giving Yosuke the catalog, and showing us what cutie we’ve lost. I’m devastated and gonna mourn for a week.

I wonder if the sweetheart Seiroku was talking about is Noriko, after all, and if Kengo married her partly to prevent her betrothal to Yosuke, who went for Inako in turn, and that’s why Noriko helps Inako in every possible way.

Ah, Kengo blaming himself for something out of his control, a classic. Kihachi took it as a champ, though. Thanks to Inako Kihachi’s even started to believe in Seiroku’s confidence in his little brother’s inventiveness to the point of letting go of the electrical catalog.

However, I don’t think Yosuke even cares about the promise between him and Seiroku of bringing electricity into the world anymore. Seems like his only goal is to bring Seiroku’s doll(s) to life with electricity.

Whoa, bold Nishi.

No, main plotline, don’t accelerate, I need another 50 episodes of the cast’s shenanigans.

Facts.

Tonari no Yokai-san, a slice-of-life drama with mythological elements about supernatural beings and humans peacefully co-existing in the modern world. It’s sad, and beautiful, and heartwarming; one of my favourite shows of 2024. People who liked Natsume’s Book of Friends might enjoy this one as well.

Not only it is funny with perfect comedic timing but it also has one of the best direction for a show on a small budget that makes moving pngs work in its favour. OP and ED are fun. It’s an endearing show.

Oniyasha’s search for “good” always brings some interesting commentary on art. This time it was tradition vs. innovation. Zoujirou might have won by performing for the audience and sticking to tradition, but something new will eventually bloom and be accepted by the masses. I wonder what Oniyasha makes from his loss and Zoujirou’s words.

No, but it looked like some kind of puppet to me. He wouldn’t have Seiroku’s actual corpse??? Or parts of it? That would be too unhinged, plus, how would he preserve it? However, according to Yosuke’s reactions in this episode it seems like he wants to revive Seiroku (or Seiroku’s puppet) with electricity or something. What do you make of it so far?

You and I Are Polar Opposites Season 2 ED: “Unmei no Kimi” by Mega Shinnosuke - my favourite theme of the season. I never skip it. Honda’s aura? Unmatched.

World Is Dancing OP: “Shuushou” by Macaroni Empitsu - mesmerizing visual mix, and the song really complements it.

Draw This, Then Die! ED: “Conifer” by Regal Lily - although its OP and ED are quite similar in style, I prefer Regal Lily’s song.

You and I Are Polar Opposites Season 2 OP: “Neko Jarashi” by 7co - not as visually impressive as the first OP but still very fun. I like the outfits and how the credits are incorporated into the scene with different typesetting to match it.

Jaadugar ED: “Hoshi” by Ziyoou-vachi - pretty and bittersweet.

Please Excuse My Younger Brothers ED: “Clover” by Reira Ushio - warm and cute.

Lara’s OP and ED are wonderful visually, but I don’t care for the songs so I rarely watch them.

The Elusive Samurai Season 2 OP and ED are slowly growing on me, but I knew I wouldn’t like them as much as the first season themes.

Seiroku’s mannequin in the basement, holy shit. Yeah, Yosuke is a full-fledged yandere. Bye-bye to my dreams of redeeming him to healthy levels of whimsy.

Taira’s and Honda’s bits were great. Made me think of The Ramparts of Ice.

I liked the first season but this one makes me wanna explode from diabetes into a ball of pink cotton candy that gets dissolved in a river after an oblivious raccoon puts it into water; it’s so so soooooo good.
