- Comment on YSK: If you’re ever planning to visit French Polynesia, consider choosing Maupiti over Bora Bora. 12 hours ago:
But if people are visiting, don’t most people want massive tourist infrastructure?
How can we “visit” if there’s not even a hotel? Do tourists need to learn the native language to find a place?
- Comment on Matrix.org is Introducing Premium Accounts 1 week ago:
Exactly. I’m nowhere close to the top of the tech ladder, but I make more than that and still have to rent and will be renting for several more years. To buy an average house in this city, it would be like 7k/month without a 20% down payment. And household debt needs to be 30% of your total income so I would need to make $250k to even get approved for a loan for an average house in the city.

No, that’s Orgasmo. You’re thinking of the fruit that had the color named after it.

So there shouldn’t be a poster on a wooden pole for a new corner store? How about fancy signs? No happy hours either?

But our current systems do talk to each other, like meetings show up on Chime and in Outlook and in the meeting rooms. This is Amazon AWS I’m talking about, not some mid size company.

It’s so crazy to me that Amazon of all people are migrating to M365. Slack isn’t being deprecated yet, but Amazon Chime is gonna be replaced with teams by mid 2026. So wild that they don’t want to invest in their own platform.
- Comment on Blue Prince - Have you played it? How blown is your mind? 2 weeks ago:
I don’t really have time for extensive puzzle games anymore, so I watch a YouTuber named Aliensrock. He’s still playing it, and I’m so invested! It’s insane that a puzzle rougelite can work so well and be so engaging with the story and mysteries. There are multiple ways to figure out each puzzle (except one so far), which is fascinating.

But the Musk/Trump stuff isn’t about Canada. The American federal tax rebate doesn’t work like that. It only benefits the consumer, so it’s not a scam they can do here.

That’s Canada. That’s not the American tax rebate.
- Comment on ‘Alexa, what do you know about us?’ What I discovered when I asked Amazon to tell me everything my family’s smart speaker had heard 4 weeks ago:
They say they don’t associate the data they collect with anyone. There’s no way to trace back to my device.
- Comment on ‘Alexa, what do you know about us?’ What I discovered when I asked Amazon to tell me everything my family’s smart speaker had heard 4 weeks ago:
I have HomePods to activate my lights, and listen to the news in the shower. Sure, it doesn’t do all the fancy shit that Alexa does, but at least Apple has a track record of respecting privacy.

Switching from beer to Coke Zero + rum/vodka for my drinks lost me a little weight. So much better for calorie counting.

100%. Played this with my wife and we bought the vinyl afterwards. Such a chill exploration game, especially with a partner.

My wife is in love with Disney Dreamlight Valley! It’s like animal crossing but with Disney characters and in full 3D. She dresses her character up differently every few weeks. She looked like a reindeer for December/January, and it was so cute! They’re very heavy on the fairy/cozy decor aspect, and while the expansions are paid, they do have free updates every 3-4 months.

You can remove YouTube videos from your watch history, so they don’t influence your algorithm.

Steambot Chronicles 2 and Maximo 3. I can’t believe they never finished the Maximo story. It’s such a good hack and slash collectathon of the PS2 era.

Huh? I’ve disabled quests entirely on my desktop. I don’t see them AT ALL.
I’m not sure about mobile because I’m on a very outdated version.

I’m so glad I’m still on October 19, 2023 release. I don’t have the new shitty UI that they implemented over a year ago, but I also can’t see forwarded message. Oh well. No loss really since I can just check those on my desktop later.

- Comment on Gaming chat platform Discord in early talks with banks about public listing 3 months ago:
TeamSpeak doesn’t include video and you don’t get notifications for posts in channels and there are no “chat only” channels. There is no media uploading or viewing within the client itself.
This is like pitching, ”just buy a bike” to someone who lives in the suburbs 50 miles from work.

The Spyro trilogy is a masterpiece! It was one of the first games to use shifting levels of detail for objects in the distance, so you could see farther away.
