It’s worth reading the whole account if how the bombing was executed, FWIW
In other news, here in Spain that joke is old enough to not make anyone laugh any more …

Luis Carrero Blanco’s assassination, despite much pearl clutching, helped to weaken Franco’s regime. So, when he died two years later, there wasn’t a solid power structure in place to continue fascism in Spain.

That’s why I said snipe, namely to shoot from a long distance from a concealed location.
Also, while it wouldn’t fix any structural problems it would break the cult of personality, and mean that whoever wants to follow in his footsteps in he immediate future would be aware that if they go too far there might be repercussions (unlike at the moment, where people are being killed and nobody is taking physical action to stop it).

And this is why practice is important …

What if you found yourself with a perfect vantage point from which to snipe modern-day Hitler?
- Comment on Florence Nightingale's Kink 2 weeks ago:
When I was at school some girls would mention in history class that Nightingale was an inspirational role model.
At the time I thought that was rather weak when one could pick Amelia Erhart or someone like that … had I known this back then, I would have chosen her too …

Many of them are at least a bit sensitive, so I just use the same wording for all men these days.
- Comment on Just FYI 2 months ago:
Or you’re a woman talking to a certain type of man, and want to avoid an argument if he decides what he thinks is correct when it isn’t … or just try to use passive wording as much as possible in general so you don’t get fired for being ‘a bitch’.

I’m not invested enough to go check for myself, just surprised since they were my first instance and were all about inclusivity at that time (just very insular)

Sounds nice, provided you’re in the Nintendo ecosystem

I haven’t, can’t say I’ve ever heard of it!
(I’ve got Mario Kart 8 on the WiiU, that’s about it!)

I just remembered another one - the original Car and Driver game (way before Need for Speed 1) was a vector 3D affair that ran at full speed on a 386.
One of the courses was the San Dimas Mall parking lot - I worked out that I could use the “drop camera” command in one spot, and then it became a radio control car simulator since the ‘dropped’ camera followed the car being driven :-)

Oh yeah, that was often the easiest way to progress.
I used to be a bit of a Carmageddon nut, I think I have original copies of all the games (1 with the Splat Pack expansion was the best for exploration) … but my old PC can’t run the latest version at more than 1fps unfortunately :-/

Carmageddon was really good for it, too.
In modern gaming I’ve clocked up about 400 hours on Snowrunner, half of the game is intentionally exploring with trucks (albeit a lot slower, lol)

Going back a while - Monster Truck Madness 2 was a great game of exploration if you just drove off in a random direction rather than doing that silly racing stuff :-)
The maps were big, and there was no time limit, so you could just go and do your own thing … a favourite made-up mini-game was sliding around a frozen lake on the winter map.
- Comment on Explaining your traumatic past IRL feels so underwhelming compared to when a character in a movie or tv scene revealing their traumatic childhood. 3 months ago:
A couple of weeks back I saw my boss hadn’t eaten all her lunch. She said it was because her mother had made it, and always tried to give her too much; just like when she was little.
I replied that my childhood habit was to clear the plate every time, just in case there wasn’t enough next time. She laughed because she thought I was making a joke, and then went really quiet.
Yeah.

I love the stretchy rubber ties, the ones that allow you to make two bunches held together yet distinctly seperate.
Great for comms rooms, and also motorcycle cable management :-)

My wife openly says she left Hungary because of the dictatorship, nobody has ever reacted to her negatively for it.
The impression I get from most Hungarians I’ve met is that if you can speak another language then getting out is the smart move.

Yup, and it’s on what was a mid-line laptop from 3 years ago. Only just started recently.
At home I use a thinkpad that I got 2nd hand 10 years back, and it feels like warp speed by comparison.

Indeed, I don’t have admin rights for anything outside of IP address changes at work.
I just thought of another bug bear, start menu lag on mouse clicks is a very odd problem, I don’t remember anything like that, even on the first release of Windows 95 which I ran on a laptop with 25MHz and 8 Mb of ram.

Fair enough, I use 10 and 11 at work and hate it … I used to like 7, using the control panel, search, default paths and stuff seemed a lot more intuitive.
That’s why I stick with Linux at home, it feels a lot more like Windows used to, lol

No mention of Snowrunner, for shame!
(which I’ll be going back to after I’ve finished Dirt 4, which is also awesome)

Yeah, I was surprised to be honest!
Before doing track days at Cadwell Park I used to fire up Project Cars and do a couple of laps just to remind myself of the order and camber of the corners (it’s a very complex track), but that didn’t feel realistic at all … Dirt 4 does, even though the stages aren’t real, which is ironic
