- Comment on Amazon CEO Andy Jassy says AI will probably mean fewer jobs after 27,000 people have already been cut from its workforce 2 weeks ago:
I don’t see how. “AI” as we know it now is technically not AI and it is growing progressively worse. Even AI that is “grounded appropriately” on walled gardens of data has begun to widely hallucinate and go off track. There is a reason that companies lay people off for this and then realize they need to re-hire. Big tech is trying to convince the world this is the solution when it doesn’t work the way they claim for shareholders and shareholders alone.
Don’t get me wrong, I use AI all of the time. And it speeds up some of my job. But it is wrong 90% of the time and I have to check everything to the point that it’s more of a time suck in most cases.

As someone who moved to a remote countryside area 2 years ago, I can tell you that we regret it and are looking to move back to a more populated area. Do an extended trip there or a year sabbatical in a rental and then you’ll know for sure.

There’s always the 5 or 10 models. Those are still great and also pretty affordable if you scoop them on Swappa or eBay

I have two Sonys and love them both. I like that they’re thinner so it’s easier to hold, too. Still have headphone jack and side fingerprint reader.

Apparently they’ve already been incorporating it and it’s very inaccurate. I’ve decided to stop using them and have switched to LingoDeer and MemRise. Really pleased with how much better they are.

It’s not enough for them to ruin our country with this shit, they have to try to ruin others?
