- Comment on Why is there such a negative connotation with the poos of horses, bulls, and bats? 1 week ago:
Something fun I do to mess with people - insert other animals when you back the typical “bull shit” or “bat shit” proclamations.
“Ah human shit, I forgot my keys.”
“She’s hippo shit crazy.”
“That a bunch of otter shit.”
Never fails to get weird looks.
- Comment on Microsoft accidentally swapped Windows 11’s startup sound with Vista’s 1 week ago:
It’s not. It’s silicone valley’s insane strategy to hype tech to juice stock prices then build to meet the hype. Instead of doing the logical thing - build useful features and let them become popular to bring the hype. These companies are way more focused on wall street hype than their actual customers reactions to their products.

With their philosophy on privacy, I hope they do. The more people use Linux instead of Windows, the more developers will clean bugs up.
- Comment on Trump May Launch Wireless Phone Brand 1 week ago:
Compete with but will lease their service because there is no actual competition with a barrier to entry like national cell towers.

A powerful henchmen of the evil lord with secret designs on overthrowing him to become the new big bad guy power. That tracks.

Anything Peter Thiel is involved in you know it is going to be fucking evil on some level.
- Comment on What water bottles are completely free from the problem of weird chipping/shavings of the material which could put material in the water, even when dropping it or when using Bottle Bright tablets? 2 weeks ago:
My camelback stainless steel water bottle has none of these issues. You shouldn’t drink out of plastic if you can help it anyway.
- Comment on Frequent TikTok users in Taiwan more likely to agree with pro-China narratives, study finds 3 weeks ago:
This is because Tiktok slows spread of anti-CCP content and boosts pro-CCP content. Exactly like they keep swearing they don’t. ByteDance answers to their State Capitalism daddy Xi, they are not independent as they claim.
- Comment on Meta shareholders overwhelmingly rejected a proposal to explore adding Bitcoin to the company's treasury, with less than 1% voting in favor of the measure 3 weeks ago:
Regulations aren’t perfect, but the banking industry has gotten vastly more full of scans since congress repealed Glass Steagall. Regulations offer a structure to punish fraud and scamming. We need clear defined rules to at least attempt to control markets from their worst possible outcomes.

What any unregulated market becomes.

Fuck your fragile masculinity.
- Comment on Fake reviews on Play Store by Plex staff 1 month ago:
It lives on an isolated VLAN with traffic routed through a VPN service on a dedicated NAS for movies. If someone gets into it, they’ll get no personal info but my movies.

Jellyfin works fine. No point paying for Plex.

Exactly. They want their version of The Network State

It’s great. It’s super relaxing and a great way to stay at interesting places on the cheap. You can learn a lot of useful skills doing it as well. Humans lived most of our existence much more in the outdoors than today. I think it’s therapeutic to connect with nature in a more direct way like a lot of camping styles / locations can offer.

Centralized for profit social media should be over.
- Comment on 34% of the US population doesn't vote. Why do polticalitcians cling to the idea that these voters can't be reached? 2 months ago:
I thought you still had to file regardless, even if you aren’t paying anything. I filed when I was in college made under that limit working part time. Got money refunded from my taxes paid because I was below the poverty line.
- Comment on 34% of the US population doesn't vote. Why do polticalitcians cling to the idea that these voters can't be reached? 2 months ago:
They need to just put voting in with taxes. Everyone files taxes and if they aren’t at least filing them, then they shouldn’t vote. Setting up in person poling is expensive and takes a ton of volunteering and is a rush to happen over time. The IRS is already solid at record keeping and the infrastructure for data collection is there. We don’t need years of campaigning. Plus, it would kill the horse race aspect of things if the votes were all tallied as they go. I think it would make the whole system easier and would help with any voter verification issues. No one is filing taxes in duplicate to vote more than once. Lol

Mine has an internal USB so you can open it up pretty easily and install any version of Linux you prefer. Not sure what model you bought, but I would assume you can too.
- Comment on In the future old Cisco network switches will be like pipe organs 2 months ago:
I work for an ISP, I definitely know how long old equipment gets held onto. Lol. Not saying it doesn’t happen, just saying Cisco isn’t the ubiquitous quality product it used to be.
- Comment on Synology Lost the Plot with Hard Drive Locking Move - ServeTheHome 2 months ago:
I bought a Terramaster instead. Better hardware specs for the money and you can overwrite the OS with Linux which is way better than any stock OS.
- Comment on In the future old Cisco network switches will be like pipe organs 2 months ago:
Most of the internet infrastructure above the LAN side is actually Nokia switches these days. Cisco has lost a lot of market share.

- Comment on finally got static IP from a new ISP 2 months ago:
That only happens from incompetence or bad IPAM software. It’s easy to assign a static in most management systems. As long as you set up the static in your router correctly, it should just stay.
- Comment on Where Neural Networks Meet Memory Foam 2 months ago:
Sleep Number beds are like $10,000 for some models already. Who knows what ridiculousness they will charge for an “AI” bed.
