What feature are you looking forward to in a 2.0 release? What is the issue with the clients as of now that makes them not nature enough?

- Comment on FR#153 – What does a Discord replacement look like? 1 week ago:
But my other group that hangs out in there async every day and the occasionally jumps onto an ad-hoc voice chat when people are available to game, or sometimes shares my screen so someone else can watch what I’m doing? None of those things do that.…but Matrix does that.
- Comment on Discord will restrict your account next month unless you scan ID or face 1 week ago:
It is no more clunky than discord was a couple years ago. Setting up a server is very clunky, but the average Joe doesn’t have to do it.
- Comment on Discord will restrict your account next month unless you scan ID or face 1 week ago:
It really is no different than discord. You create an account, download the client, log in and that’s that. You don’t have to self host it or use any instance that isn’t the main instance. Just go to matrix.org and sign up.

In element there’s a button on top of the chat. I press that and it’s calling.

It does it well, it’s just clunky. It works perfectly fine, and I recommend it over discord ang day of the week. Except Tuesdays. Tuesdays I recommend IRC.

Matrix can literally do everything you just mentioned. It’s clunky, but it works.

In their defense, counter strike 1.5 and 1.6 existed. Condition zero as 1.7, source as 1.8, GO as 1.9 and now we are finally at two. 🤷♂️

- Comment on Would a fediverse alternative of Discord be possible? 5 weeks ago:
Don’t go looking for a 1 to 1 drop in. That mindset won’t work much. Same case wit expecting windows to work the same as windows: they’re just different and have to be learned in their own ways.
- Comment on Spotify Music Library Scraped by Pirate Activist Group 1 month ago:
As a former professional, now semi professional musician: we make our money playing gigs and selling merchandise, not by getting paid by Spotify. Go ahead, pirate all you want. But also go to shows, buy merch, if the bands are on bandcamp, buy their shit.

Mate that’s like 10 things to do. Installing Linux and learning it is easier

How did you manage that? Opened SSH with no password?

Same. The setup was super easy.
- Comment on Plex’s crackdown on free remote streaming access starts this week - Ars Technica 2 months ago:
Am I the only one who thinks jellyfin is not only superior to pure, but also way more intuitive to setup? I still don’t understand how plexs routing works, and why I need a central account in order to connect to my own server.
- Comment on Why do I always have "dreams" that give me anxiety (aka: nightmares)? Why do I never just get to re-live my happy memories in my dreams? Wtf brain?!? This is outrageous! It's unfair! 2 months ago:

I love stationers.
- Comment on Would I sound taller if I gave my height as 6'-4"? 4 months ago:
If we are going to assume that they also have a mic and everything they say will be played back from the speakers, then we need to factor in the fact that one can still hear them talk through their mouth, and that a foot of height will add about 3ms of delay.

- Comment on Alternative to github pages? 5 months ago:
It’s not “very difficult” to self host. Arguably it’s one of the easier public things to self host. Takes an inexperienced IT enthusiast maybe 2 hours to setup.

An algorithm is a tool made by us. OP suggests it’s something sentient.
- Comment on There are algorithms deciding if we're human or not 5 months ago:
It’s still written by a human. No different than a tool that measures our heart rate or checks our eyesight.

- Comment on Spotifies come and Spotifies go, but that folder of badly-sorted MP3s will still be there in the 2050s. 5 months ago:
I use MusicBrainz Picard when I stopped paying for Spotify. Went over my old library, audio tag matched all my songs, added all metadata, sorted everything. I moved it to Nextcloud and using the Music Player plugin, I have my own Spotify using any supersonic/ampache client. Life is good.
- Comment on Mozilla warns Germany could soon declare ad blockers illegal 5 months ago:
What a shit website and article. At least post the one from Mozilla themselves.
The case is not just blocking adblockers: the issue is that Adblock Plus specifically charges companies to let their ads go through. That is one of the main concerns.
