If GOG benefitted Linux users as much as steam does then Yea, I’d be throwing cash at them every payday. I love GOG and what they do, but I also need to show support for what valve is doing for Linux too.

Its a fairly safe bet that your offline games won’t have much trouble, from my experience.
- Comment on That's all folks, Plex is starting to charge for sharing 2 weeks ago:
What are you talking about? This is a post about Plex. Nobody is gonna think about bringing up Tailscale for criticism. Tailscale gets plenty of skepticism in the self hosted community, whenever I see someone recomend Tailscale I usually see someone bring up that it can be a victim of enshitification. It doesn’t get hate (yet) because they haven’t fallen to enshitification (again, yet). But the main reason is probably because you dont NEED Tailscale for Jellyfin. When it does shit the bed, use headscale, netbird, wireguard, or any other vpn if you are really are so apposed to Tailscale.

I am very fortunate in that before Plex I found and used ps3 media server/universal media server. Because of that, it always felt odd paying just to stream my own content on my own hardware. I am certainly not against paying developers, but Plex always felt like paying for another service, not donating to an awesome Dev cause I love what they do. Another reason I stopped using Plex, I couldn’t get anyone but myself to give a dam and use Plex, (suddenly, when NETFLIX gets The Last Air Bender, NOW my sibling wants to binge watch it. 🙁). Jellyfin has served me just fine so far, it fucks up only in the same situation plex did, when I try watching with someone else.

Not ALL steam games have DRM. Yes, you should buy from GOG whenever you can, but if you use Linux like me, GOG doesn’t give a shit. It can be hard to decide, support DRM free games and proper ownership with GOG, or expanding compatibility with Linux and improve it in general. If its cheaper on steam cause of a sale or something, I’ll buy on steam, then years later like with DOOM 2016 for example, I’ll buy it when it hits like 4 bucks on gog. That way, I have acces to an offline installer, and I show support and interest to valve for investing in proton.

A lot of people, despite using a federated reddit alternative, will think of any reason to discourage the use of peertube I’ve noticed. It doesn’t need to REPLACE youtube, that’s basically impossible. You can use Peertube WITH YouTube. “Does it do anything different than youtube?” You can control what gets deleted and what stays up. “That’s the only thing? It needs to do more.” You can livrestream with it, and why would it need to do more than youtube? It gives you fucking CONTROL back in your hands! This is all about putting the people, back in control of the internet! The p2p aspect of peertube makes this the best competitor a community has to these giant companies with their world burning server farms. Why is this so hard for people to not be fascinated with having an option you can run with old PC hardware?
- Comment on The YouTube Alternative Nobody's Talking About ! Peertube 2 weeks ago:
It can also host your live streams, twitch has mandatory adds or something last time I checked after you gain a certain amount of viewers. If you multistream, you stream to twitch and inform them about your Peertube being add free.

Good point, thats why we should be able to run servers ourselves after the game dies

Yea, thats where you’ll find some issues sadly. I’m not a regular but I manage to find one or two servers with a decent player count most of the time.

Just play “Team Fortress 2 Classic” or “Open Fortress” both are really cool community projects without crates, or any micro transactions as far as I know.
- Comment on 6* months away now. If you're on 10, do you plan to upgrade? Make the jump to Linux? 5 weeks ago:
If you ever give it a go again, I’d suggest trying to get used to software that you’d need to use on Linux (aka, alternatives that won’t work well outside of windows). I already used a lot of free openscource software that works on Linux like libre office, krita, kdenlive, obs, when i used windows. That made swapping a lot more comfortable. Next I really recomend something like Linux mint, or popos (look up screenshots and decide witch one looks cooler) then, if you are enjoying it after a few months, give arch or nixos a try, or don’t if the distro you use does what you want, and you found ways to make it work for you, then stick with it. I hope the next time you give it a try works out better for you.

Idk what to tell you man, I was just saying it would be cool if more people made a personal Peertube. Didn’t say everyone and their mother needed to make one, just that it would be nice if as many people as possible could make one. Again, I get that it can be hard, or not possible for most people, but if more people could make one, and made one, that would be cool.
- Comment on YouTube removes 'gender identity' from hate speech policy 1 month ago:
“As many people as possible” not the usual household.
- Comment on YouTube removes 'gender identity' from hate speech policy 1 month ago:
If as many people as possible self host their own peertube, even for just your own videos, it wouldn’t replace youtube completely, but it would be a giant leap in the right direction.
- Comment on Plex is locking remote streaming behind a subscription in April 1 month ago:
I moved on to jellyfin after I found out the hard way Plex servers need to authenticate for use. I’m sure by now there are ways to set up offline authentication but I already didn’t like the idea of paying monthly to stream my own content from my own machine. It just didn’t make sence to me. Jellyfin isn’t perfect, or as flashy as Plex, but it works, looks fine, and its free, not counting a much deserved donation to the devs .

Because American police do not fuck around, they do a little more than ask you politely to stop. Nowadays protesting in America could get you killed or handicaped. They don’t care how old you are either, they won’t aim their rubber bullets at the ground like they’re supposed to, (that is, if they are using rubber bullets) they will kill if they feel remotely “threatened”. But Yea, all Americans are fat, stupid, ignorant, inbred, Bible-thumping, morons that just love watching the world burn, they all adore what’s happening.
