Nah, the Roman system developed from even older systems.

I wonder if the dog was anxious, like “why are we all running away?” or if it was the greatest day of their life.

It’s funny that this is posted in shitposts and it’s super appropriate

I posted this in another thread but it’s worth posting it here too. This person is obviously not arguing in good faith. Literally everybody knows that’s not the situation. But here this person is, oversimplifying, speaking to anger others, and obfuscate the facts.
Anyway, here’s my comment from the other day:
This is that usual gaslighting rhetoric from the right. Someone reminded of the Sartre quote about anti-semites recently. It’s so applicable to how the right twists facts and makes absurd over-generalizations. It’s the epitome of acting in bad faith.
“Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.”

One time on a dark road a pickup truck had super bright lights. I flashed my brights at them to communicate that maybe they had left their brights on. They then proceeded to flash their actual brighter brights at me. Unbelievable lol

People call MAGA fascist because fascism usually involves:
- extreme nationalism, which is obvious with trump
- totalitarianism, which is also obvious. Trump is not seeking to work within a system of checks and balances — he’s seeking total power; he is the law, he cannot break the law, etc
- anti-democratic stances, which is also obvious given hints at “king”, third term, etc
- suppression of opposition, given how everyone who doesn’t agree is getting fired and how he’s signing executive order after executive order in an attempt to cement MAGA ideals and enact project 2025
- overt flaunting of power or military strength as a negotiation tactic; again obvious with tariff threats etc

When I was looking for a job, I ran into a guide to make money using AI:
-
Choose a top selling book.
-
Ask Chat GPT to give a summary for each chapter.
-
Paste the summaries into Google docs.
-
Export as PDF.
-
Sell on Amazon as a digital “short version” or “study guide” for the original book.
-
Repeat with other books.
Blew my mind how much hot stinking garbage is out there.

- Comment on 'Deportation flights have begun' as Trump sends 'strong and clear message,' White House says 2 months ago:
When are you gonna want justice to come for the US citizen business owners who hire undocumented workers in order to fatten their own profit margins and undermine the country they are loyal to?
Why do I never see a single conservative approach this issue studiously and instead just hope for and cheer mass deportations?
Some questions to you personally: when you see a problem do you just let anger and fear take over and then just throw shit at the problem? If throwing shit at the problem doesn’t seem to work, do you just throw more shit? If you think the shit isn’t working but some passionate fear mongerer tells you the shit literally will work, do you go back and keep trying the literal shit?
Have you ever taken a step back to try to understand something deeply? Have you ever tried to understand a complex problem holistically? To see that sometimes actions have unforeseen consequences and the shit you’re throwing isn’t just not working, but it’s brewing new problems?
Or are you really just god damn fucking stupid, idiotic, and pathetic?
