How very Microsoft of them! All the more reason to scrub it I guess

If you want the absolute easiest install possible, don’t need to dual boot, and don’t care to do a ton of gaming, Linux Mint is, in my opinion, honestly easier than installing windows. The most confusing part is typically the partition manager, but Mint has an Easy option that handles that for you as long as you’re okay with wiping your drive and starting fresh. Otherwise you’ll need to read up a bit on the partition manager on order to dual boot, but that’s the only difficult part.
Download Ventoy, use that to put the Mint installer on a thumb drive, and follow the instructions on booting to USB for your motherboard. From there it walks you through everything.

You think one of the most popular and best-rated games of 2015 “did poorly?”

Oh cool, that’s a pretty ambitious concept. The idea of an open sim world where you can do pretty much whatever you want sounds awesome. Rimworld was very much not for me, though, as much as I wanted to like it; playwise it never clicked for whatever reason. Probably why this one whooshed me.

If pointing out things I find mildly amusing - with qualifiers, even - is “shitty,” we live in a pretty fucking sterile and boring world.

Ahh got it. Kind of figured at had to be more complex than it looked at first glance, and another commenter pointed out that it’s a solo dev as well. Thanks for the extra context!

The “After 6 years of early access… Version 1.0!” text displaying over what appears to be a pixel shooter is extremely funny to me for some reason.
I get that games take time regardless of art style, still seems an odd point to hype.

FH5 was fun at first but agreed, the unending FOMO event system just kind of sucked the joy out of it awhile. Just let people play the game.
More importantly, though, just fuck the whole XBox/Microsoft gaming system in general. I was dumb enough to FH5 through the Microsoft store back when I had Windows, so I can’t install it on Linux.
And even if you buy it on another platform like Steam and sign in with the same account, it considers a “separate purchase/subscription” so none of your dlc or cars carry over. Just anti-consumer as fuck.

Yeah I’m pretty sure for $70 a functional engine should be the bare minimum.

I’m on the same page as you re: Eternal. The first hour out so was fun, and the graphics are neat, but it stops feeling like a Doom game pretty quickly. It doesn’t even feel like a Quake game, which would at least be tolerable.
Will probably give this one a shot eventually when it’s on discount, but not in a hurry.
