Just think of all the children they will be protecting! (Sarcasm) I note the range of Republicans and dRepublicans (Democrats are Republicans in every meaningful way) who support this action.

No robust rationale for switching, other than willful reading about Tumbleweed. Debian, as ever, was working just perfectly. Would it be acceptable to suggest crazy Brit after drinking a strong coffee? I try distro’s in VM often, just to see. This looked like a drop in replacement with “perks”. Now I question myself as to the perks. Hey ho. I’m perhaps less of the tinkerer but still a horizon scanner.
- Comment on Starmer allowing the US to use UK bases to bomb Iran 2 weeks ago:
Starmer can get the fuck out of office for ensuring that the UK remain removed to the US and targets to Iran, and look like fools to civilised nations.

Haha, I know what you mean. I have a daily backup of all my files, so the answer is daily. I want to see what happens and if it does go belly up, how effective is the roll back to a previous safe setting. No dramas at all so far. 3 weeks in, bits of tinkering and using AnythingLLM with Qwen 2.5 analysing my local docs. Just works (famous last words right?)

- Comment on YSK: Israel is ethnically cleansing Lebanon 2 weeks ago:
We have greater fear of the word ‘antisemetism’ being used inappropriately against us than we are to appropriately speak out or take action to prevent the eradication of semetic people In Palestine and Lebanon. Here in the UK it was unlawful with many arrested for protesting in public or online. We cannot be the hand over evil by staying silent.

- Comment on Hisense TVs force owners to watch intrusive ads when switching inputs, visiting the home screen, or even changing channels — practice infuriates consumers, brand denies wrongdoing 3 weeks ago:
It must just be a coincidence… but… Quite mysteriously, my HiSense TV never shows any ads. Ever. Not really sure why. I use a mini-PC (with a fewTb of hard drive and internet connectivity) to serve all my media to the TV. The TV has never been connected to the web directly.

This is interesting. The judge can only determine if the relevant rules / laws are being followed or not. I suspect that they were never written to deal with the actions of a complete idiot.

- Comment on Borrowing money against their stuff to get more stuff to borrow money... 1 month ago:
Coincidentally, I saw an article entitled “Buy, Borrow, Die”. If you don’t need to have a salary paying job (so not applicable to almost everyone I know or have ever met), you buy an asset let it grow, refinance it (borrowings grow), spend the money you borrowed (tax free) some for more assets, some for pleasure. Rinse and repeat until you die with a shitload of debt that then gets wiped out.

- Comment on ‘Seasons have become confused’: the people struggling in UK’s relentless rain 1 month ago:
We have ways to describe rain from “that fine rain that gets you really wet”, to “its pissing down” and “cats & dogs”. Not quite Inuit levels of specificity. However, you aren’t even British if you can’t hold a solid rain conversation
- Comment on ‘Seasons have become confused’: the people struggling in UK’s relentless rain 1 month ago:
Our (UK) social glue is talking about the weather. We are rain experts. When we speak out about the rain, you know it’s bad.

- Comment on In a blind test, audiophiles couldn't tell the difference between audio signals sent through copper wire, a banana, or wet mud 1 month ago:
Cost does no equal tperformance. Take a look at audiosciencereview.com (ASR). as well as Erin’s audio other (YouTube channell). They both measure performance. I sold my £3k amp and replaced with one for £1k. My partner hated my speakers (too big and ugly), and so were sold to someone who wanted them and replaced by budget options that measure very well. My music sounds better (almost entirely down to the speakers) and we had a great little holiday and it all takes up much less space.
