I came here for the entire premise of a dragon maid, and stuck around for the found family and the slice of life. The sexualization I just kind of blatantly ignore—kind of helps to be a woman not sexually interested in my own gender, in a world full of sexualizing my gender. (I’ll usually try to avoid sexual fanservice, but if I like something/think I’ll enjoy enough I seem to be really good at just hitting the IGNORE button.) It’s fun to watch. I’m cognizant of the issues but I certainly do not expect everything I watch to be perfect.
Not a fan of the loli/shota stuff. However I am more “ehhh, I wish this wasn’t there” than “absolute disgust,” probably because in the end, the characters are pixels, no real kids are coming to harm; so when weighing whether or not to watch I still come down on the watch side.
For what it is worth, the anime’s sexualization and underage sexualization seems to be toned down from the manga.

A normal amount, but I also have a tendency to take things at face value right off the bat.
I did recognize the Shota name thing but at most that seemed like a single playful jab, not the whole thing being satire. And the “lolicon character is actually 943948 years old!” thing is common enough that it just passed me by. I didn’t see enough parody to call this satire.

Tried to see if this will have content that wasn’t already in the anime. Unless I am forgetful, the trailer seems to signal that it covers manga content the anime did not get to.

I’m not sure how people are being trolled or baited here. People still seem to engage with Kanna (lolicon girl) as they would any other, nobody seems particularly upset that Shota is named that… am I just missing something?

One I’ve had to do super often is injecting a name back in a sentence. Why say
Mary said the following about Jane: “She went to the store today.”
when I could say
Mary said, “[Jane] went to the store today.”
I mean, I could just paraphrase Mary and do away with the quotation marks and brackets entirely, but when I am trying to prove something (primarily that I’m not talking out of my ass) I like quotes because you can easily just take it as direct evidence, an exact citation of what the other person said that you can use as evidence yourself, instead of a paraphrase by some random person whose reasoning and motives you do not trust.
Of course, that doesn’t get into how people can manipulate quotes and take them out of context, or even just straight up write something in quotation marks that was never said, but…

Thanks to the reminders from this sub I about new chapters, I reread the whole thing since it’s been a bit and I’m pleased to see this chapter too! Back when there were less chapters posted I went to read the web novel, translated poorly by Google Translate, and I can definitely say we’re approaching the end of the story. It has been a fun ride.

Is this a case of culture clash, where an actual decent amount of people would think less of Visa for allowing transactions to go through with this? Because to me they just handle money. Not sure where else to put this, but I appreciate ani.social for new anime/manga discovery. Sometimes I toggle on Local and look around, and I often find an anime or manga title that sounds interesting, I click it, I look it up online, and add it to my ever-growing list of stuff to read or watch.
It is also funny because I see people writing that they didn’t like an anime or manga for X reason, and X reason is exactly what draws me to it. Both positive and negative reviews are pretty useful as long as you say why you (dis)liked it. You tell people what kind of content is there (often tells more than just the promo content for the anime/manga/book/film/game/whatever it is), and they can judge for themselves. I always toss over an upvote to these because they are useful on telling me if I’d like the content or not, even if their “this is amazing please watch it” recommendation is what convinces me I’d be better off using it as a sleep aid.

For anyone confused like me, looking at this on the artist’s Pixiv shows that the Star Sapphire-looking character is Kaguya’s VTuber rig thingy. Kaguya’s the one who said insulting things on stream, it is not her being angry at people forgiving Star Sapphire for that.
