Yes, security is layered. Vpn is a layer.
- Comment on Music Assistant 2.7 - Taking over the airwaves 4 days ago:
I really want to like music assistant. But its hot garbage and a resource hog. I ditched it and just ru a lyron music server. I can pipe ledfx through it and zero sync issues. Home assistant runs the whole setup so i can tell the local voice assistant to play a playlist and works flawlessly.

- Comment on There's ads on an apple 2 weeks ago:
You can find good ones. But it does feel we go for gross weight over quality these days. If you have never tried one nashi pears (south east asian pear or pear apple) are phenominal. Basically what you want a pear and an apple to taste like.

Not that big into them, I worked in an orchard during my teen years. Best skill i learnt was juggling. But pink ladies then were only grown in the south west. I feel there was a trade agreement that allowed themm to be grown elsewhere. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cripps_Pink

Huh pink lady’s i thought that they were only grown in western australia.
- Comment on Solutions for remote access? 3 weeks ago:
I have been thinking of this myself. I think what ill do eventually is dmz a headscale coordinator instance on an old raspi and then make that internet facing for my tailscale instances. What inwant to do is go over some NIST guidelines first to harden the raspi
- Comment on Why have so many services started using single-factor passwordless authentication in the last little while? 1 month ago:
Check out if your router and provider supports SIP. It allows sms and calls over your wifi connection
- Comment on Internal domain and reverse proxy 2 months ago:
Personal solution:
- Openssl certs (lots of youtube videos on best practice there).
- nginx reverse proxy manager
- adguard using the dns rewirite pointing to the wildcard domain and il addresss pointing to the npm.
This is enough i find for intranet use. You can get fancy and put it over a wireguard or tailscale network too.

- Comment on Beyond Pi-Hole 2 months ago:
I have been experimenting with this recently. I just have tailscale pointing to adguard on a vm i use as an exit node. And run ndinx to handle the reverse proxy.

- Comment on Reducing buffering when accessing Jellyfin via Tailscale 2 months ago:
Tailscale can use relays if it cant find a way to make a p2p connection. Check the documentation. There is a command you can run to see whats using the relay.

- Comment on Tailscale difficulties 3 months ago:
I routed the dns of the vm to the tailscale adguard and it worked.
- Comment on Tailscale difficulties 3 months ago:
My theoretical reasoning is. Make adguard be the dns server tell tailscale to use that and then parse all rewrites and dns for the tailscale netwrok through that endpoint (including exit node which is on the same machine).
- Comment on Tailscale difficulties 3 months ago:
Glad im not the only one struggling with this. I was able to get nginx to give me the congratulation page via the tailscale ip for the machine but getting that routing to work is giving me a headache. I am probably adding an extra unnecessary layer by trying to use adguard home as a dns rewrite. If you crack it id love to hear how you achieved it.

Proton have always reaked. Given some real nordvpn pia vibes. My hot take is: Mailbox.org Filen Mullvad Run containerised cloned vms and burn after use.

Run a matrix server to my friends if came to it or have the sever point to the outside web and use it as an end point. Im talking nuclear solutions here that would cost me to achieve. I really dont like security being missmanaged in the name of public safety. If you want my data, get a warrent arrest me and demand my passwords.

- Comment on Signal boss warns app will exit Australia if forced to hand over users’ encrypted messages 4 months ago:
The raspi still needs to be out of the country for it to work how you want it to. They may block vpn providers, but they just can’t block wireshark connecting to a off shore server because they would shutdown alot of methods, buissnesses use to transfer data. Well they could but it be some next level stupid.
