I got that once. Called tech support and they recommended putting a vacuum hose against the cooling fan for about a minute. Did that, and everything started working again!

I want to say late 2000’s to early 2010’s was when my friends and I all built our own PCs for about $500.

I recall it being a period of at least 10 years. A prior generation GPU would run about $150-200. The CPU/Mobo was the most expensive part

The enclosure just protects the prints from drafts, which can cause sharp corners to curl. The most common instance of curling I had was printing square shaped PETG parts that needed to be flat on the bottom. I got away with no enclosure for years by setting up my prints with tall, thick skirts close to the part (draft shield), and a thicker brim. I was basically tacking down the corners with extra plastic to keep them from curling up. However, PETG was just a bit too curly for this print.
The few times I absolutely needed draft protection, I used a trash bag. After I needed to do several batch prints for a cash job, I decided a $30 enclosure would be much more practical.
So far, my Ender 3 has met my needs very well. Any upgrade would be a “want” at this point.

For starters, you’re going to want an FDM printer. Resin printers can be nice, but there’s a lot more complexity to handle when you’re just figuring out how to print stuff.
I’ve been using an Ender 3 V3 KE for a few years. It’s been pretty solid. I can use any slicer I want, but the one from the manufacturer, Creality Print, has been pretty good for me. Most printers can use any slicer you choose, though the slicer designed for that printed will often give better results (until you figure out what specific settings you need).
Choose a budget, and then look for a printer with a direct drive extruder, auto leveling bed, and a heated plate. An enclosure is very nice, but I did fine for years without one. I recently bought an aftermarket enclosure after I started doing more PETG prints.
Multi filament is a cool feature, but that’s up to you if you want to pay for that. It does create a lot of waste, and you can always tell the printer to pause at certain points for you to change filaments for those times you want to do different colors.
Overall, I always recommend a simple-but-good printer at a reasonable price when getting started. Having convenience features will make the whole process easier, which I find makes it easier to learn.

There’s a specific version of proton to use for RDR2. I believe it’s Hotfix. Do a search for getting it to run on Steam Deck, because I recall there may have been a command line argument to add to get it to run.

Views always go down in summer. This is a regular trend. Less people watching YouTube, more people going out and doing stuff.

I found Linux Mint Cinnamon edition to be an incredibly easy transition. Just make sure you disable secure boot and use the drive format that the installer recommends.

I’m definitely going to have to check those out. It’s been a minute since I was in midtown. I used to head over there to get an EDM fix at Canvas on a Friday night.
Granted, I’m on a new schedule, so I have a lot of catching up to do now that I finally have nights and weekends off.

I’m stuck here for a long time. No plans on changing jobs any time soon.

It really helps that there’s a quest book to guide you through some of the mods. Otherwise, you’re just searching for recipes in your inventory and hoping for the best.

I highly recommend playing with a mod pack on a return playthrough. You can still do all of the vanilla stuff, but the experience is also expanded upon with things like steam quarries, programmable mining bots, digitized wireless storage, blood magic, dimensional travel, and cozy kitchens with in-depth cooking.
I used to drive pretty hard into Feed The Beast, but All The Mods seems to have taken over it. The big thing with these packs is making all the mods play nice with each other, so they can share resources and be cross compatible.
I recall one pack where the world was a wasteland. All the ores were depleted, and the oceans were toxic. You had to figure out how to try to grow crops, make survival gear to explore, and eventually make mystical crops that could produce tiny bits of ores that you could harvest.

Somehow, our gaming habits keep overlapping. I just started playing Minecraft again a few days ago. However, I’m playing “All The Mods 10”. I’ve been focusing on creating an aesthetically pleasing factory this time. So far, I have a cozy house with a workshop. My mineshaft is behind the house, and it’s my starter shack converted into a garden shed.

If you feel tempted to try Star Citizen, just go play Elite:Dangerous. You’ll have a much better experience for a fraction of the cost, and still get to do all the things you were hoping to do in SC.

They e also flat out said it will be a long time before they even consider a 2nd version. Performance efficiency and battery tech need to make some leaps to make it practical.

- Comment on Millennials are watching monthly student loan payments skyrocket from $500 to $5000 under Trump: This will ‘crash the economy’ 7 months ago:
Most people are relying on income-driven repayment due to high interest rates and inflated tuition costs. IDR reduces your monthly payment to a fixed percentage of your income, but it does not scale the interest generated on the principle. The new SAVE plan was intended to scale the interest along with the monthly payment so your debt wouldn’t keep piling up due to being on IDR.
Trump is removing all forms of IDR and blocking applications to renew existing plans, which means everyone will be forced to pay their full monthly amount (which is based on a 10 yr payoff plan). A lot of newer student loans are close to ~$100K or more, so imagine trying to pay that off in 10 yrs in the current job market.
Prepare for mass defaults on loans. This is absolutely going to crash the economy, and will very likely be worse than the housing market crash in ~2009.
