Have to check their backlog then. I hope I’ve secured it enough. Even if someone gets into the system they should only be able to view the media I mount into the docker container and the logs. So hopefully nothing harmful.

I use a VPS to make it accessible codeberg.org/skjalli/jellyfin-vps-setup

You can use a VPS to make it accessible without VPN via the internet: codeberg.org/skjalli/jellyfin-vps-setup

Yes it actually helps to talk about it and get some outside views onto the topic. Even if you know your issues and possible solutions just talking about it makes one ‘more aware’ of it.
Think of it similar when studying for a math exam. Looking at a solution and saying to yourself “ahh yes, I know that and that’s how I would also do it” is different from just trying it yourself.
And yes it’s the other person’s job but they also want to help, that’s why they chose this career. In Germany there are also a few sessions in the beginning just to check if the patient and therapist are ‘compatible’, because if the patient doesn’t feel safe then it doesn’t help as much.

I use a VPS and a Wiregusrd tunnel together with geoblocking and fail2ban. I’ve written my setup down, maybe this will help you codeberg.org/skjalli/jellyfin-vps-setup

Thank you. Took me quite some time to get it all running through the Wireguard tunnel.

I set up fail2ban together with Caddy which runs as a reverse proxy in front of Jellyfin. I’ve written down my setup and maybe this will help you codeberg.org/skjalli/jellyfin-vps-setup

You’re welcome, happy that I can help. I also just updated it a bit. In case you find any issues or have questions please let me know. It was mostly trial and error until it ran…

It’s a steep learning curve for sure but once you get the basics it’s straight forward until you hit very specific problems.
Are you a Windows or Linux user? They often want to push their Docker UI application but in my opinion docker engine with docker compose is enough. There are probably a lot of great tutorials out there and I can recommend www.linuxserver.io for images.

codeberg.org/skjalli/jellyfin-vps-setup here you go, took me longer than expected and I hope it’s helpful, might contain a few errors since I had to remove some settings but I guess this should work.

Will share this evening after work.
- Comment on How to secure Jellyfin hosted over the internet? 4 weeks ago:
My setup:
- Locally (all in docker) ** JF for managing and local access ** JF with read only mounted volumes that uses the network of my Wireguard client container ** Wireguard client opening a tunnel to Wireguard server on VPS ** Ping container regularly doing pings to Wireguard Server so the connection stays up (didn’t manage it otherwise)
- VPS (Oracle Cloud free tier) ** Caddy as a reverse proxy with https enabled and geolocking (only certain countries are allowed to connect to) ** fail2ban to block IPs that try to bruteforce credentials ** Wireguard server
So my clients just get the URL of my reverse proxy and can access the read only JF through my Wireguard tunnel. Didn’t have to open any ports on my side. If someone is interested I can share the docker compose files later.

Thanks. Yes I am currently doing the same but was wondering if my account will be deleted at some point.

Did you upgrade your account to a paid one? I’ve read that this might help to precent from being deleted. Even with a paid-as-you-go account you’re able to use the free tiers.
