Let’s hope so, such a long development isn’t necessarily a good thing (i.e. Duke Nukem).

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this trailer drop. I’ve had this game on my Steam wishlist since 2013!

I’m sorry, is this asphalt over baked paving stones? And if so, why?
This is what happened in a lot of European cities, they just paved over the cobblestone. I’ve seen something similar in a especially deep pothole in my neighborhood. Felt like a glimpse into the past.
- Comment on 4chan refuses to pay UK Online Safety Act fines, asks Trump admin to intervene 1 day ago:
I’m a bit confused by comments on this topic. Do sovereign countries not have the right anymore to decide their own laws and issue punishment when they’re not followed?
Some laws are bullshit and I commend everyone who decides to ignore them.
but if 4chan ignores them, that opens the door for other measures like delisting the site from search engines or blocking access to it from the UK (these two examples are taken from the article)
This has already happened to a number of sites and services, with some voluntarily blocking access from the UK. 4chan’s approach is just a bit different in the way that they are waiting to get blocked instead of doing the blocking themselves. It sucks for citizens from the UK, but they are the ones that put the people in power who created those laws.
Like, to the people saying UK can’t do laws which apply to services which are merely accessible in the UK and have no physical presence there, do you also apply this logic to the GDPR, which works the same way?
This has also been the case already. There are a number of American websites that will just straight up deny you access if you visit them from a EU country. Some even cite GDPR as the reason for being blocked. I don’t think it’s the best solution, but I accept it because I wouldn’t want to visit that cannot comply with it anyways.

Have you actually played Rising Storm 2: Vietnam? I thought the setting worked decently well there. And I really didn’t encounter any racism aside from popular lines like “Welcome to the ricefields mfer”. It still has a couple of full servers going even though it’s kinda outdated compared to HLL or Squad 44.

Pretty sure this is due to the dollar weakening by 10%.

I know people who were affected when a Windows 10 update just straight up deleted all personal files in 2020.

They are also pretty expensive here in Germany, though a few stores sell some select flavors for less than 1€.

I should go.
- Comment on what are in you're top 3 favourite games of all time? 2 weeks ago:
- Mafia 1 from 2002, that game really shaped my taste in games when I was a kid
- Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. Essentially a perfect video game from start to finish IMO.
- Alan Wake 1 or 2, genuinely hard to pick one.

Looks good aside from the two outliers. Very excited for this release!
- Comment on RPGs that are optionally pacifist? 4 weeks ago:
I will never forgive Dishonored for glitching the peaceful achievement on the Xbox 360. I went out of my way to not kill anyone and it was still locked when the credits rolled. I remember there was some funkyness with knocked out enemies dying from external factors.

That hasn’t been the case for a few generations now. AMD has surpassed Intel in both performance and efficiency.

I wouldn’t go that far :D I just really enjoyed throwing a wrench into reddit’s gears after they killed 3rd party apps.

Not to take all the credit, but a factor might be that I, as the top mod of the second largest German Subreddit, promoted Lemmy heavily to the point where the admins banned me “for breaking reddit”.
- Comment on 7,818 titles on Steam disclose generative AI usage, or 7% of Steam's total library of 114,126 games, up from ~1,000 titles in April 2024 5 weeks ago:
I imagine a lot of indie games can’t really afford to pay or commission artists but still want to have a product that looks presentable. I know someone who does mostly programming but is now considering making being a solo dev on a game because generative AI enables him to do it alone.
There definitely exists a spectrum between shovelware, large studios being too cheap to pay actual artists and indie devs having little to no other options.

More like “Don’t believe anything you read on the internet”. That would reduce the raging as well.
