Oh yeah there’s definitely a bit of effort involved, but most distros have very similar directory setups, so it’s often just a matter of copying across the relevant folders, with the “home” folder being the one that typically contains most or all of your user data.
Being able to test run distros off a USB drive is a great (and easy) way to see if it might be for you without making any sort of commitment.
Another option is to install the distro to a second hard drive so you have a more permanent environment to test it. I’ve done this before, and when I was content that I wanted to switch to it I just copied all my stuff across.

These are all pretty easy to answer with a search, but here’s some info to get you started:
Does Linux have a windows GUI?
Lots of distros are similar to Windows in many ways. Some are specifically geared towards Windows-to-Linux migrants, or trying to be as close to Windows as possible. They are all much more customisable than Windows too, so you can change it to whatever works for you.
Linux Mint is often recommended to newcomers. Zorin OS is another good option that is more like Windows.
howtogeek.com/windows-like-linux-distros-you-shou…
Do all the steam games have Linux compatability?
No, but compatibility is constantly improving and more developers are natively supporting Linux.
Game compatibility list: www.protondb.com
Also, Windows app compatibility list (though many Linux app alternatives are better than their Windows counterparts IMO): appdb.winehq.org
Is there a Linux version of Windows Defender?
Windows is far less secure, and targeted by much more malware due to it’s market share.
linuxsecurity.com/news/…/antivirus-linux
Many Linux users don’t bother with antivirus software at all, but yes, there are plenty of options available.

Great thing about Linux is you can change your distro whenever you want.
If you’re uncertain, or not ready to go through the process just yet, you can always just boot Bazzite off a USB drive and play around with it for now.

As someone who was in your exact position several years ago, nice!
I’d recommend Linux Mint to newcomers though. It’s based on Ubuntu and is even easier to get comfortable with (much better GUI for updates and app “store”), but it strips out all the Microsoft-like stuff that Canonical have been doing in recent years.
Pop!_OS (also based on Ubuntu) and Bazzite are also meant to be beginner friendly, and are particularly geared towards gaming on Linux, especially the latter.

Funny you don’t see the irony of that actually being your argument.
Do you go out and protest Hamas?
What a ridiculous question. The vast majority of governments have made their feelings about Hamas very clear. Do you go out and protest crime?

I know for a fact war crimes were committed by the allies in WWII.
And in your mind that makes what Israel is doing completely fine??
Also it would be nice to know the exact wording…
OP already linked the PDF. Here’s a screenshot showing the question:
And here’s one from the referenced Pew survey:
- Comment on Google Confirms Non-ADB APK Installs Will Require Developer Registration 2 weeks ago:
I guess it depends on the specific apps we use. Some can be pretty massive, but I have heaps of APKs that are <30MB, and even several that are <1MB.
Maybe a couple of large enough apps could be the issue if you always have them open, or if they are running services on your phone.
- Comment on Google Confirms Non-ADB APK Installs Will Require Developer Registration 2 weeks ago:
Yeah that unfortunately seems to be the only option if you don’t want to completely reset your device or remove apps one at a time to find the culprit. And there’s no guarantee either of those will work anyway.
I’ve actually found a small number other users reporting a similar issue, though dev responses all seem to believe the issue is likely caused by apps rather than the OS. The fact that the issue is exclusive to GrapheneOS doesn’t appear to have swayed them into looking into it unfortunately.
If I were in your position I’d probably use the Auto Reboot setting so at least you don’t have to do it manually every day. It reboots after a specified number of hours without an unlock, so it’s ideal for when you’re asleep.
- Comment on Poll indicates over 60% of Jews in the US believe Israel has committed war crimes 2 weeks ago:
It should matter in all cases. In Canada’s case, it is a historical issue and cannot be undone, whereas this is ongoing and can be changed.
Canada has paid reparations to victims, and many efforts have been made to document and acknowledge the harm done.
While this may well be a case of “too little, too late”, it’s not something many people can see Israel ever doing, especially since most Canadians were unaware of the residential schools until very recently, while the majority of Israelis have made their feelings towards Palestinians very clear.

That’s why I put it in quotes. Being able to view the RAM usage is useful though. Best of luck with resolving your issue.

How many of those protests are about Palestinians?
The vast majority of them, and the largest of them, are about saving the “hostages” and opposing Netanyahu.
One of the largest protests so far: thejc.com/…/israelis-protest-gaza-war-netanyahu-w…
Not a single mention of Palestinians.
Speaking ahead of the rally, Yehuda Cohen, father of hostage Nimrod Cohen, accused Netanyahu of “blowing up the hostages in Gaza.” He stated: “Netanyahu is killing the hostages and destroying the country.”
“The hostages’ lives are in your hands, time is running out, the hostages have no time. We’ve seen hostages return. You have the power to do this. So please do it already. Sign phase B and bring my brother back to me. Give me my life back, now!"
The surge in demonstrations was also partly triggered by Netanyahu’s move to dismiss Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar and Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara.
“The government has launched a direct, violent and unrestrained attack: on us, on our democracy, on our values, on our future, and on the lives of our children. It will not win,” he went on, accusing the government of “turning its back on the law, on the High Court of Justice and on the public.
“This struggle is not another protest. This is a struggle for the face of Israel. This is a struggle for our home,” he implored.

I wasn’t denying the fact that you’re experiencing this issue, but since this is the first I’ve heard of something this bad in my 3 years of using GrapheneOS, this does appear to be a fairly unique case.
Provided you are using an otherwise well-functioning and currently supported device (and not an emulator), and that you are using a stable release installed via an official method (and there were no install issues), your best bet would be to ask for help in one of the community chats or forums: grapheneos.org/contact#community
You will be asked to share which device you are using though, which you did not seem comfortable doing in the post you linked to.
Unrelated, but I learned about the Android “task manager” (Running Services) from that post of yours, so thanks for sharing that.

I’m the complete opposite with respect to wanting all of those apps and features built into the OS, but I understand that’s what most people seem to want, which is largely why iPhones are so popular.
To me, all of that built-in stuff is bloatware that I have to remove just so I can use whichever software I want.
I’ll take a bit of jank if it means I have the freedom to do what I want on my device (and choose a device with the specs that matter to me within my budget). That’s why so many people are upset at this news.
The Apple ecosystem is perfectly suitable for the needs you described, and it’s not something Google will be able to match due to their lack of a real competitor in the desktop OS market. Microsoft had their chance with the Windows Phone but, knowing Windows, I doubt it would ever have had the same level of polish as iOS.

- Comment on Teen killed himself after ‘months of encouragement from ChatGPT’, lawsuit claims 1 month ago:
ChatGPTs responses here are vastly different to what you’d get from a Google search. It presented itself as a supportive friend, accepting the suicidal intent, basically planning out all the small details (including an offer to help with a suicide note without any request from Adam), and emotionally encouraging him by telling him that he wasn’t weak or giving up.
One of the most damning examples of this encouragement was a sentence that, in reference to his family, said something like “you don’t owe them your survival”.
If OpenAI wasn’t a huge for-profit company that claims to have strong safeguards against things like this then maybe people wouldn’t be placing so much of the blame on ChatGPT.
If a friend of Adam’s said all the things that ChatGPT said to him they would certainly be found to be culpable to some degree.

- Comment on Mozilla warns Germany could soon declare ad blockers illegal 2 months ago:
My fear is that we’ll end up in a situation where 90% of the internet is just YouTube, Facebook, Reddit and other giants and people get all of their news, reviews and other information from those sites, which I think is worse than having ads.
This is pretty much already the case though. And they all have plenty of ads despite being incredibly profitable through their paid offerings.
- Comment on Mozilla warns Germany could soon declare ad blockers illegal 2 months ago:
If everyone on the internet was to use adblockers, most of the web would die out
Websites existed before internet ads came about, and while it may be true that most would die without ads I’d be happy to see them go because the vast majority of websites have no value and only exist to try and make a few bucks off ads.
Hosting for most websites these days is virtually free. For about 80% of mine I only have to pay for the domain names, and I have no desire to serve ads to my visitors under the guise of covering costs.
The alternatives are directly charging for access to a service, or providing it for free and relying on donations or payment just for extra/bonus features/content. These methods are very successful when something is actually worth paying for.
