I host one for VGM since that isn’t on any streaming site. Going strong for two years.
With “regular” music though losing the discover ability would really suck :/
- Comment on Apple iPhone 17 Devices Plagued by Wi-Fi Connectivity Issues 1 week ago:
Yeah I’m no Apple fan, sold all their stuff. But I also remember how Apple constantly had a magnifying glass on them every gen so you get stuff like antennagate and bendgate while other similar phones with minor issues are never pointed out.
Nintendo is the same with their products. It’s usually overblown.
- Comment on Intel says Arc GPUs will live on after Nvidia deal 2 weeks ago:
Intel’s iGPUs blow all the others out of the water at power to output ratio though. I use it for my Jellyfin server and it’s great. This is really disappointing to me.
- Comment on Waymo approved to start testing autonomous vehicles at San Francisco International Airport 2 weeks ago:
Reminder that Waymo and the ride share companies lobby against public transit and are Project 2025’s excuse as to why it can be refunded.

- Comment on YouTube is now flagging accounts on Premium family plans that aren't in the same household 4 weeks ago:
I’ve been using Nebula, and I dig it. It’s owned by the creators and there’s no algorithm. Only sucks you can’t really share since it’s all paywalled. They have a guest pass but the person has to sign up so I doubt people would bother.

I think it’s important to keep expectations realistic though…
in the case of Youtube there are very few groups/companies/whatever that could keep up with that kind of bandwidth. Federation helps here but it’s still a pretty niche thing for 99% of people who don’t know/care and just want their social media/forum/video site to work.
- Comment on Pi NAS for multi-location backups 5 weeks ago:
ZFS doesn’t really hog memory, rather it consumes almost all available memory as cache. But it frees it as soon as it’s needed.

You can get a cheap refurb Pixel. The returns are very diminishing these days on new models anyway.

- Comment on Jellyswarrm - reverse proxy all your Jellyfin servers from a single interface, presenting as a standard Jellyfin server, clients should work out of the box. 1 month ago:
It seems like the libraries are server specific. So it’ll probably just be saved to whichever server owns the library you’re using.
