Hasbro is a requirement for the D&D license, no?
Larian at least went against the grain of the AAAAA Industry and delivered something truly wonderful.

Smouldering Durtles is great for learning kanji, if that’s part of your goal. In all likelihood you won’t want to do that though.
Human Japanese is great for learning grammar!

Any communities you can recommend? In the past I had many unfortunate encounters with toxic users that had no patience for newbies. If they’re anything like you, I’d be very happy!
- Comment on Duolingo will replace contract workers with AI | The Verge 2 weeks ago:
I started out with memrise, as it was very accessible and I wanted to start learning Japanese. It was fun but it’s also very limiting. A mixture of Smouldering Durtles, Human Japanese and Ankidroid really accelerated things. And then the ginormous post-covid upswing in my industry came, with less colleagues than before and my brain got fried. Still trying to recover from that with therapy and whatnot. Yeah, I lost a lot of progress that way.
Any who, that was specific to learning Japanese. Wishing you success with your endeavors! Learning other languages is a huge Eye-opener for understanding other cultures better.

Mate, thanks for the information! I saved the comment and will setup a dual boot on my laptop during my next vacation. I really want to make the switch finally. I’m fed up with these mega corporations shoving their bullshit on us.
- Comment on Duolingo will replace contract workers with AI | The Verge 2 weeks ago:
Why not Anki? Ankidroid works well and there are many great community decks for all kinds of languages (and other topics too BTW).

Maybe my info on sound drivers is outdated… I play guitar and rely on low latency for my interface. I use neuralDSP plugins (not just for recording, also for jamming). Is it possible to get this running somehow? Any good DAWs you know of?
- Comment on Pluralistic: The enshittification of tech jobs 2 weeks ago:
Holy crap, that’s me! Just with heavy machinery.
I often wish my old job at Lidl back. I very often also regret buying a house that makes me reliant on a well-paying job.
- Comment on Even PewDiePie thinks you should install Linux on your computer after saying he was "tortured by Windows" 2 weeks ago:
Have you tried it since 1.0? It’s pretty ok.
What keeps me from making the switch is music-making. None of my plugins run on Linux and sound drivers supposedly are a huge mess.
- Comment on Getting mixed signals from Reddit. Furthermore I shall henceforth be on Lemmy full time. 2 weeks ago:
I know how this works. It’s still a ridiculous echo chamber and I stumbled into a meme community on that instance and didn’t know it and started to discuss Communism. They were very adamant on their stance, despite showing them contradicting evidence. Only then I noticed I was on Lemmy.ml, lol. Shortly after, I was banned.
Tankies suffer from similar delusions as Nazis do. They seem to be smarter however.
- Comment on Getting mixed signals from Reddit. Furthermore I shall henceforth be on Lemmy full time. 2 weeks ago:
Absolutely! Especially communities like lemmy.ml. I just got banned for criticizing certain aspects of Communism. No alternate opinions are allowed apparently…
- Comment on China's latest flying car prototype showcases a breakthrough in urban air mobility, offering a glimpse into how low-altitude flight could soon integrate with everyday transport. 3 weeks ago:
What kind of a backward ass piece of shit country would allow these things to fly all over the place? This entire industry is ridiculous and doomed to fail from the start.
- Comment on Angry, disappointed users react to Bluesky's upcoming blue check mark verification system 3 weeks ago:
Can I subscribe to your social media accounts? I would like to follow your opinions.
Nah, for real though, I’m so glad my best friend is still fairly analog and we use the phone for what it is (we just call each other when we want to meet up).
Lemmy is the last of social media that I use and I regularly take breaks from it because the echo chamber is very apparent and not something I wish to be consumed by.
- Comment on Angry, disappointed users react to Bluesky's upcoming blue check mark verification system 3 weeks ago:
I believe the equivalent saying would be “don’t let perfect be the enemy of good”.
I couldn’t give a single shit about these twitter alternatives, because the whole concept is stupid.

Nazism is dead, there’s no nation-state with an army with that as national ideology.
u wot m8? You really don’t see the current situation evolving toward just sich a thing? In 4 years from now, literal Neo-Nazis will likely have the majority of the German votes. It’s Germans being Nazis again. Fuck you and your dumb fucking arguments. There has literally never been a greater threat to everyone’s freedom as right now. Fuck you and your edgy take on “Westerners”. We are living lives in the west after all.
- Comment on France to ban students from keeping smartphones in schools 4 weeks ago:
No, but everything else combined does. You wouldn’t even be able to perform basic multiplication tasks without school, let alone solve more complex problems. School teaches you the basics for higher education, be it Uni or vocational school.
- Comment on France to ban students from keeping smartphones in schools 4 weeks ago:
Taking away their addictive propaganda gadgets is freedom, lol.
- Comment on France to ban students from keeping smartphones in schools 4 weeks ago:
Kids have no clue how the internet works for actual research. They just endlessly scroll and gobble up all of the Nazi bullshit that’s spread around. The internet is dead. Smartphones are highly efficient propaganda gadgets.

- Comment on Parents turn to smartwatches for their children amid global phone screen-time pushback 1 month ago:
I admit, the wording here is a bit… Weird. But my guess is, the OP just doesn’t want their kids subjected to drama 24/7. Evolution really had nothing in store to deal with the sheer amount of information that Smartphones provide. It’s unnatural and very unhealthy for the mind. Drama face to face? Sure! That’s part of life. Internet drama? Fuck that noise. Humans need rest from certain areas of life, which they don’t get with the 24/7 online aspect of phones.
I do agree with the dumbphone bit. A dumphone makes a lot of sense, e.g. in the case of an emergency. Plus, they can call their friends, which has way more social merit than texting does.

Not entirely related, but why do so many people use Discord? What’s the appeal? I only ever used it as a replacement vor teamspeak or ventrilo. And I honestly hate most online games.

I was talking about my personal observation in Germany. We don’t give a shit about Fox. We have BILD and Nius instead. Also state media keeps inviting Nazis to talk shows. But social media is the main driver here.
