I know it had always been there. But social media has made it so much more efficient. It’s hard to compare it with traditional media.
- Comment on AI is rotting your brain and making you stupid 1 week ago:
It definitely is the enabler though. Without social media, propaganda could never have spread as fast. And it also brought together every village idiot. I know of simpleminded people who never uttered a racist word in their lives before. Now all they talk about is how the AfD will save Germany from the brown people. This is literally brainwashing. So I stand by my comment that social media is the cause of all this.
- Comment on AI is rotting your brain and making you stupid 1 week ago:
Social media lead to things like maga and the ruse of Nazis in Europe. It’s not necessarily tech itself that is making us dumb, it’s reeling people in through simplicity, then making them addicted to it and ultimately exploiting this.

Anki is free. If you need gamification, then perhaps memrize is for you. I’d just go with anki though. Ankidroid is a good app to work with the anki decks.

I still don’t get how these companies keep getting funded. There’s literally no way these things will ever become a thing. It’s simply ridiculous.
- Comment on $80 for Borderlands 4 too costly? Randy Pitchford says, "If you're a real fan, you'll find a way to make it happen" 1 week ago:
I can barely justify 50€ for a massive game like Baldur’s Gate 3. I’d never pay that much for any other game that is not on this scale. But 80 bucks? The fuck are they thinking?
- Comment on Avoiding AI is hard – but our freedom to opt out must be protected 2 weeks ago:
Yeah, here we are. The majority of humanity addicted to social media, being brainwashed by far-right assholes into voting for Nazis. That worked out really well, didn’t it?
- Comment on Burned Loss 2 weeks ago:
I believe it was because CAD was already under fire by 4chan for being a subpar gaming comic. This just delivered meme material.
- Comment on The world was a nicer place before the advent of leaf blowers 2 weeks ago:
It’s also a billion times more annoying. Just use a rake, dude. And while were at it, install a lawnbot. Fucking lawnmowers are just as loud and annoying.
- Comment on Netflix will show generative AI ads midway through streams in 2026 2 weeks ago:
Is there a plugin for Stremio that provides a kid’s profile function? That’s the only thing keeping me from canceling my Netflix subscription.

Hasbro is a requirement for the D&D license, no?
Larian at least went against the grain of the AAAAA Industry and delivered something truly wonderful.

Smouldering Durtles is great for learning kanji, if that’s part of your goal. In all likelihood you won’t want to do that though.
Human Japanese is great for learning grammar!

Any communities you can recommend? In the past I had many unfortunate encounters with toxic users that had no patience for newbies. If they’re anything like you, I’d be very happy!
- Comment on Duolingo will replace contract workers with AI | The Verge 5 weeks ago:
I started out with memrise, as it was very accessible and I wanted to start learning Japanese. It was fun but it’s also very limiting. A mixture of Smouldering Durtles, Human Japanese and Ankidroid really accelerated things. And then the ginormous post-covid upswing in my industry came, with less colleagues than before and my brain got fried. Still trying to recover from that with therapy and whatnot. Yeah, I lost a lot of progress that way.
Any who, that was specific to learning Japanese. Wishing you success with your endeavors! Learning other languages is a huge Eye-opener for understanding other cultures better.

Mate, thanks for the information! I saved the comment and will setup a dual boot on my laptop during my next vacation. I really want to make the switch finally. I’m fed up with these mega corporations shoving their bullshit on us.
- Comment on Duolingo will replace contract workers with AI | The Verge 5 weeks ago:
Why not Anki? Ankidroid works well and there are many great community decks for all kinds of languages (and other topics too BTW).

Maybe my info on sound drivers is outdated… I play guitar and rely on low latency for my interface. I use neuralDSP plugins (not just for recording, also for jamming). Is it possible to get this running somehow? Any good DAWs you know of?
- Comment on Pluralistic: The enshittification of tech jobs 5 weeks ago:
Holy crap, that’s me! Just with heavy machinery.
I often wish my old job at Lidl back. I very often also regret buying a house that makes me reliant on a well-paying job.
- Comment on Even PewDiePie thinks you should install Linux on your computer after saying he was "tortured by Windows" 5 weeks ago:
Have you tried it since 1.0? It’s pretty ok.
What keeps me from making the switch is music-making. None of my plugins run on Linux and sound drivers supposedly are a huge mess.
- Comment on Getting mixed signals from Reddit. Furthermore I shall henceforth be on Lemmy full time. 5 weeks ago:
I know how this works. It’s still a ridiculous echo chamber and I stumbled into a meme community on that instance and didn’t know it and started to discuss Communism. They were very adamant on their stance, despite showing them contradicting evidence. Only then I noticed I was on Lemmy.ml, lol. Shortly after, I was banned.
Tankies suffer from similar delusions as Nazis do. They seem to be smarter however.
- Comment on Getting mixed signals from Reddit. Furthermore I shall henceforth be on Lemmy full time. 5 weeks ago:
Absolutely! Especially communities like lemmy.ml. I just got banned for criticizing certain aspects of Communism. No alternate opinions are allowed apparently…

What kind of a backward ass piece of shit country would allow these things to fly all over the place? This entire industry is ridiculous and doomed to fail from the start.

Can I subscribe to your social media accounts? I would like to follow your opinions.
Nah, for real though, I’m so glad my best friend is still fairly analog and we use the phone for what it is (we just call each other when we want to meet up).
Lemmy is the last of social media that I use and I regularly take breaks from it because the echo chamber is very apparent and not something I wish to be consumed by.
- Comment on Angry, disappointed users react to Bluesky's upcoming blue check mark verification system 1 month ago:
I believe the equivalent saying would be “don’t let perfect be the enemy of good”.
I couldn’t give a single shit about these twitter alternatives, because the whole concept is stupid.

Nazism is dead, there’s no nation-state with an army with that as national ideology.
u wot m8? You really don’t see the current situation evolving toward just sich a thing? In 4 years from now, literal Neo-Nazis will likely have the majority of the German votes. It’s Germans being Nazis again. Fuck you and your dumb fucking arguments. There has literally never been a greater threat to everyone’s freedom as right now. Fuck you and your edgy take on “Westerners”. We are living lives in the west after all.
- Comment on France to ban students from keeping smartphones in schools 1 month ago:
No, but everything else combined does. You wouldn’t even be able to perform basic multiplication tasks without school, let alone solve more complex problems. School teaches you the basics for higher education, be it Uni or vocational school.

Taking away their addictive propaganda gadgets is freedom, lol.
- Comment on France to ban students from keeping smartphones in schools 1 month ago:
Kids have no clue how the internet works for actual research. They just endlessly scroll and gobble up all of the Nazi bullshit that’s spread around. The internet is dead. Smartphones are highly efficient propaganda gadgets.
