What is the limit of a “community”? I live in a city where it is certainly not practical to grow the food needed to feed the city inside thr city limits. On thr other hand, in my province there is tons of high quality land that would be more than sufficient to grow enough food for the whole province, especially if the food system shifted to a vegetarian-focused one. Thats a lot bigger than my “community” but it is a lot more practical and arguably more sustainable.

It’s a mining company that is registered in Canada as it is a very favorable jurisdiction for mining companies. This is not the first instance of Canadian mining companies fucking up the environment in the global south and it wont be the last. Im no expert in international law but I feel like the Canadiam government could be doing more to discourage this kind of behavior from Canadian companies.

Haha right? It’s literally a paper about core–mantle interaction and they go with “THERES GOLD IN THE CORE!” People really only care about geology when it’s about finding ore deposits or oil. Except kids, kids love geology because rocks are cool. Adults need to be more like kids when it comes to science.
