Who needs to video your day to torture yourself with minute details throughout each day, your brain can pull that info up any time it is inconvenient to you and run through it for hours

- Comment on I'm struggling to think of any online services for which I'd be willing to verify my identity or age 2 hours ago:
Force the building of a light “honour based” age verification system (just enter your birthday, we trust you not to lie to us), then as more comply add more requirements to it til all accounts are linked and they know when you shit
- Comment on Upcoming California law to require operating systems to check your age 1 day ago:
One distro, I forget which one as I saw it on yt yesterday, changed their EULA to bar Californians from using the OS after that “law” is enacted

- Comment on DVDs are the new vinyl records: Why Gen Z is embracing physical media 6 days ago:
The life span of CD/DVD is not on the printed media but on the media we make/made our backups on. Of my many spindles from back in 2k (some disks are almost 25 yrs old), so far maybe 5 disks have gone partially or completely unreadable, lucky I didn’t lose much. Baring scratches or other physical damage, the printed disks will last decades where my disks have outlasted prediction

Oh I did find many many with similar names, but nothing that indicated me. It was fun and I did expect him to give me zero on it, but when one does not have social media one has difficulty finding oneself online hehe

- Comment on 2 weeks ago:
ikr, luckily every time I check I still have no ghost FB account nor can I find myself on google.
Took a course at college in '12 and one of the classes the assignment was to search for ourselves online, the prof clearly stated that “I couldn’t find myself” was not an acceptable outcome. So when I went to deliver the news that I was going to get a zero because in 30+ pages of google I could not find any mentions of myself, I was the first and prolly only person to get full marks on that assignment

Oh, good, ty. I just made an account last night and will check it out to see if it fits my needs, but this was nagging in the back of my head as others have just decided to bend the knee regardless of jurisdiction.

As an EU co, how will they navigate age verification
- Comment on Discord will require a face scan or ID for full access next month 3 weeks ago:
Hmm, guess I’m gonna have to spin up a chat service if this “teen” setting is too restrictive. The only guarantee I have is that anything given for age verification is going to be hacked with 0 compensation, I will not submit either my face or my ID. My account is 9 yrs this year, will they consider an almost 10 yr old account to be that of an adult?
Is there another good chat app like this? With similar features (only really need voice/text maybe pictures. Channels that won’t vanish if everyone logs off)? Haven’t been on IRC since 2k2, has it advanced since then? Back in the IRC days we used Team Speak (forget if it was TS or TS2 but on linux you had 0 restrictions on number of users).

- Comment on Interesting 4 weeks ago:
Just like falling off a roof, the fall is fine cause it doesn’t hurt, it’s the sudden stop at the end. This would shorten the life of the device, newer models slowed down saving the hardware undue stress. It was fun to hear the fast rewind then the slowdown, I can still hear it
- Comment on Interesting 4 weeks ago:
Yes, they were big for a while, save your vcr the sudden stop at the end of rewinding, newer vcrs made these not necessary as they would slow down before the beginning of the tape.
