Oh, nice, tks. too bad they have destroyed many of our trust. Thankfully there is no win 11 at home on any pc and only 1 win 10 that I do not maintain. GF and I are both on linux

work computer, Win 11, here. I need to lock my PC when I leave my desk. Over the last month or 2 (maybe more?) when I 3 finger salute to lock, it used to open in a moment, now I can count to at least 4 before the screen comes up

- Comment on I am only now discovering the sheer addictiveness of Sid Meier's Civilization. 1 week ago:
I spent so much time playing this version, loved it but not the 30min+ turns while waiting to do a move in end game. Depending which version you are playing, you can save before entering one of the random village huts and if you get something you don’t like (attacked) you can reload and it will reroll the hut. Not all versions allowed this

On windows, you pay to get their “windows signature” so your app can be installed. Right now they just tell you not to trust that app that isn’t signed, next they will tell you “No!”

Dammit, how did I not remember that name. The only 2 names that would surface were oblivion and TESO. TY
- Comment on Microsoft patents system for AI helpers to finish games for you 2 weeks ago:
Right. I mostly buy Indy and, I guess, AA games like Arizona sunshine and metro awakening, 6 - 8 hrs of story driven game, I have elder scrolls (not oblivion but the one that they have remade/rereleased like 6 times, only got half way through that as I kept forgetting what I was doing lol)

Exactly, “I hate the grind”, “The boss/sub boss fights are too hard”, “I only have so many hours in a day”.
Some days I barely have an hour to play a game, sometimes I think maybe, just maybe, I could use a bot/AI to get a little more done while I’m doing those tedious life things, then I think “What’s the point if I don’t do it myself?”
- Comment on Windows 12 Reportedly Set for Release This Year as a Fully Modular, Subscription-Based, AI-Focused OS 2 weeks ago:
will be a modular and AI-focused OS
Take all the parts that used to be included and put them behind individual pay walls. I suggest Control Panel, powershell, network access, adding icons to start menu and task bar, using multiple monitors, the registry, right click menus. I’m sure even more could be added to this list with each starting at $5/mo, on top of the access fee and one drive expansions as access to your own hdd (other than the OS) is restricted behind a $20/mo sub.

Force the building of a light “honour based” age verification system (just enter your birthday, we trust you not to lie to us), then as more comply add more requirements to it til all accounts are linked and they know when you shit

- Comment on DVDs are the new vinyl records: Why Gen Z is embracing physical media 3 weeks ago:
The life span of CD/DVD is not on the printed media but on the media we make/made our backups on. Of my many spindles from back in 2k (some disks are almost 25 yrs old), so far maybe 5 disks have gone partially or completely unreadable, lucky I didn’t lose much. Baring scratches or other physical damage, the printed disks will last decades where my disks have outlasted prediction

ikr, luckily every time I check I still have no ghost FB account nor can I find myself on google.
Took a course at college in '12 and one of the classes the assignment was to search for ourselves online, the prof clearly stated that “I couldn’t find myself” was not an acceptable outcome. So when I went to deliver the news that I was going to get a zero because in 30+ pages of google I could not find any mentions of myself, I was the first and prolly only person to get full marks on that assignment
