They are extremely annoying to me. Dude pumped Raspberry Pis for far too long when there were so many better boards and options. And now is whoring out UnRAID which is by far the worst fucking option for selfhosters by far. And nextcloud as absolute fucking ass and that’s all they talk about, never services that are better. I cut my teeth with that podcast, but when I really got into selfhosting realized that they really don’t know wtf they talk about.

Until Firefox mobile has a functional home button in the toolbar then I don’t care what the fuck the do. Dumb as fuck not to have it.

Do you need to serve an actual public like a website does? If not then you shouldn’t be exposing any fucking services except for wireguard.

As long as you’re not relying on RAID as your backup. Don’t know why so many people struggle with understanding, RAID is not a backup. It’s a solution to ensure uptime in the face of a list disc, not to restore lost data… again, its primary purpose is uptime. I would guess most selfhosters shouldn’t be concerned with uptime.

UnRAID is ass.
- Comment on Monitoring Borg backups 6 months ago:
I use hralthchecks for all my scripts and even making sure my docker containers are up. If anything goes down or errors then I get sent a telegram message immediately.
- Comment on Is it safe to automatically pull and update docker containers? 6 months ago:
That’s why you you bind mount all the imports shit and back it up. And why you also have a monitoring and notification system that alerts you if a service goes down. I will get a telegram message within 15 minutes of a service going down. And have backups of everything with borg

Wireguard. Unless you actually need tg public to access the services then you shouldn’t be exposing them. If it’s just you and a few household members that need access then you should be using Wireguard and ddns.
