Just my two cents, but there’s just no reason for people to come here when it’s 80+% political shit a
As a contra point, I’m glad that its like this, a lack of politcal debate is toxic to democracy and that way be dragons.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bread_and_circuses
In a political context, the phrase means to generate public approval, not by excellence in public service or public policy, but by diversion, distraction, or by satisfying the most immediate or base requirements of a populace, by offering a palliative: for example food (bread) or entertainment (circuses). Juvenal originally used it to decry the “selfishness” of common people and their neglect of wider concerns. The phrase implies a population’s erosion or ignorance of civic duty as a priority.
That doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be more other stuff as well though.

Three million?! Who the hell has that much?
80,000 rich Australians, mostly its via an SMSF and they dump.assents in ther to avoid …paying tax , whihc is the entire point of this.
Personally i think the Greens $2Million cap thats indexed is a better idea but Im sure Albo will die on that cross with his hatred of The Greens as he’s now trying to work with the LNP to get it through the Senate instead.
- Comment on Leading tax expert calls out ‘confected outrage’ of wealthy Australians over Labor’s $3m super plan 7 months ago:
The irony if the endless artickes in the AfR decrying how unfair it all is.
Running alongside articles about how terrible it is there hasn’t been tax reform for 24 years
It’s the same whenever the possibility of death taxes are raised, I am always bemused how the average person is outraged by this, as though a high tax on say >$10Million inheritance is some sort of outrage but inherited dynastic wealth that leads to vast inequality and political manipulation isn’t. Let alone it was often made off the back of generous tax subsidies in the first place, like large super balances.
