good or not, it’s what people associate “searching” with - much as how Kleenex is just tissue paper but you dont really hear others asking for off brand tissues.

its a distributed network, “flipping switches” doesnt take down a network.

- Comment on FCC bans cable TV industry’s favorite trick for hiding full cost of service 8 months ago:
starlink internet is pretty amazing if your only other option is 3mpbs “broadband” (on a good day). most people dont really care about the political ideology of the person who leads the company, they just want to stream media.
- Comment on FCC bans cable TV industry’s favorite trick for hiding full cost of service 8 months ago:
wow. I’ve never received any spam calls from an ISP & have been using comcast internet since 2006. they’re a lot more reliable in my area than their competition (tried it, the DSL service was terribad, and wave broadband can suck a dick).

- Comment on Judge rules YouTube, Facebook and Reddit must face lawsuits claiming they helped radicalize a mass shooter | CNN Business 8 months ago:
eh… anyone can be “radicalized” by anything. is anyone suing Mecca when islamic fundamentalists jihad someone/something? is anyone sueing the Catholic church because of christian fundamentalists doing the same thing?
holding tech companies liable because some crazy dumbshit did a bad thing is disingenuous at best. Judge’s ruling isnt going to stand.

- Comment on Have We Reached Peak AI? 8 months ago:
yeah, I guess thats how I was interpreting it. dunno, I see a lot of articles about how its super easy to crack these LLMs using outside of the box thinking (ascii art text to get instructions on how to make a bomb, etc). that doesnt really scream “intelligent” to me.
- Comment on Have We Reached Peak AI? 8 months ago:
LLMs as AI is just a marketing term. there’s nothing “intelligent” about “AI”
