this is the ending to Men in Black (and then they did it again for the ending to Men in Black II because that film was creatively bankrupt).

More like a prediction.

This reminds me that I’m writing a story about a witch and one of the first things that happens is that she pisses off the mushrooms and they tell the trees not to talk to her. I should get back to that.

I’ve been on both sides of that kind of interaction, though not in academia. I met my boss of six months for the first time like two weeks, tbh I’m not sure if I would recognize him (or anyone else on my "team"for that matter) if I saw him again right now.

And I suppose the reason all of the euro countries share information with each other and don’t let China into their special club is just a natural phenomenon? Completely arbitrary and random?

If the application is not divested, entities in the United States would be prohibited from distributing the application through an application marketplace or store and providing web hosting services.
I wonder if TikTok could continue to exist at the same level of popularity as an app that you download from their website, instead of using the app store?

It’s because it’s not reasoning, it’s a thought-terminating cliche to help them advocate for maintaining the status quo while not feeling like they’re in favor of the status quo.

If TikTok was owned by a German or English corporation, would it be facing this kind of scrutiny? Of fucking course not, don’t be dense.

Personally I don’t care if someone guns it at a red light - I do that basically every stoplight on my motorcycle because I’m trying to get away from the cars - but I do feel pretty smug if I see someone do something like weave dangerously through traffic at double the speed limit only to be stopped by a light.

The coasting thing is how I ride my motorcycle. It’s so satisfying when you don’t have to stop and put a foot down for a light because it turns green while you’re still rolling.
