This is why Fahrenheit 451 (and not 1984) is my go-to analogy for today’s plight: Bradbury correctly predicted that people would willingly walk themselves into an oppressive technocracy for the sake of entertainment and convenience.

There are two ways to make money, and both of them are fleeting: Creating new cutting edge AI services (EXPENSIVE) or consulting others who are asking the same questions you are (CHEAP, but requires the usual salesmanship and won’t be lucrative for long as others start to recognize these same truths).
If you create a capable LLM or other model that is more efficient, reliable and/or less expensive than others on the market, then maybe. But if you don’t already have the resources to do that (ie, if you plan to use an existing AI as a service), then no, you will simply be a consumer and not a producer.
That’s not to say you can’t find uses for it, but there’s nothing you can do with it that all the other users won’t be able to replicate without paying you.

- Comment on If every video game was to be destroyed but you had the chance to save five games, what would you choose to save? 2 months ago:
-
Minecraft (A comfortable home away from home).
-
Wii Sports (The one video game literally made for everyone).
-
Bioshock (I may not play it again myself, but everyone should experience “Would you kindly” at least once in their lives).
-
PlayStation Dreams (This one is kinda like wishing for infinite wishes).
-
Bomberman Ultra (A stupidly fun couch-play game that my entire family has played together for more than 10+ years now. I have never NOT smiled when booting up this silly game).
And then the games I’d forever regret not saving for myself: SuperGlob (Arcade), Tempest (Arcade), Uncharted 4, Bayonetta, Resident Evil 4, Portal and Heavy Rain (A brutal punch in the gut that I loved dearly but never want to play again).

And yet somebody nailed it. Apparently, it was dead on for that one person who knew the song.

- Comment on Apple is reportedly getting ready to introduce ads to its Maps app 3 months ago:
Apple Maps had a rough few months at its start, but it’s never let me down since — I’ve used it to drive across country (many times, many directions) and across town. Combined with CarPlay, it’s the only digital screen I’d ever want in my car’s dashboard.
Ads would destroy the only thing I’ve enjoyed about newer cars in decades.

You might have tried, but the company took all its products off the market for the last several weeks in anticipation of this announcement. You could use the trial, but you couldn’t purchase a new license.

It took me about five nights to get through Heavy Rain, and every night I went to bed feeling like I’d been punched repeatedly in the gut.
Fantastic game that I consider one of my all-time favorites… and I’d NEVER want to go through that again.

White Castle was — until that movie — largely unknown in many areas of the U.S. So yes, until the scene in which they finally reach White Castle, I held out hope that it would indeed be worth the trip.
The fact that it was, well, just a White Castle made it wholly relatable to anyone who ever had those late-night cravings, though.
- Comment on US criticizes Germany for labeling AfD 'extremist' 9 months ago:
Not quite over, but the chances of establishing a majority large enough to effect change are fairly overwhelming. The U.S. needs a pretty big education campaign to teach folks how democracy is actually SUPPOSED to work, but those in power certainly won’t be the ones to initiate it.
