- Comment on Is "If A then B" equal to "B if and only if A"? 10 months ago:
I think I understand now, but what has left me scratching my nose (metaphorically):
Why is it called “B if and only if A”, if what it really means is “B only if A and vice versa”? (Am I correct in thinking that’s what it means?)
I just don’t understand how that translates grammatically. To me, “B if and only if A” sounds the same as “B only if A”. I can accept that they mean different things in the context of logic, just like I can assign any meaning to any label, like I could say that “dog” now means “kite” in a certain context. But it seems unintuitive and doesn’t really make sense to me. Does that make sense?

Thanks. Could you possibly elaborate? Why are they not equal?

I think it’s affirming the consequent

Can you send me the video?

If car, then vehicle = true
Car if and only if vehicle = true.
Is this correct?
Therefore “If A then B” = “A if and only if B” (or “If B then A” = “B if and only if A”)?

At least it’s pagan though. A bit of an F you to the mainstream religions.

I think this is next-level for what I’m capable of being a semi-idiot. But I appreciate the advice.

- Comment on What are some 3D platformer/3rd person shooter hybrids aside from the Ratchet and Jak series? 10 months ago:
Rift Apart is an excellent game. It’s the epitome of what the games I’m talking about could be, although a new Jak game in the style of Jak II and Jak 3 would be even better to me.

So true. I feel like Insomniac sold their souls to the Marvel machine by pumping out so many Marvel games at the expense of the creative original games they were known for. With Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man they got a taste of success at a level they’ve never had before and now they’re just running with it. Don’t get me wrong, those games are good. But Insomniac games were amazing. It feels like capitalism has sucked the life out of them. Maybe a controversial opinion, I don’t know. But I hope they snap out of it and make some original games again, and more Ratchet… also if Naughty Dog doesn’t revive Jak and Daxter, Insomniac should pick it up too.

- Comment on What's a word that means a common saying which is arguably untrue? 11 months ago:
For example someone says “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks” and you might say “that’s a questionable phrase.” or “I doubt the validity of that platitude”.

Good point but that sounds too casual sometimes. Like maybe a sexual connotation. Idk

I always wondered how it handled duplicate letters. If you stay hovering over one key it doesn’t work as well. Thanks for answer (TFA)

When I swipe on my keyboard to say hello, it says help. When I’m not trying to say “help”. It’s confusing to the person receiving my text
