This comment gave me flashbacks to when I tried to use a cheap external touchscreen monitor plugged into an old macbook pro with a singular usb-c cable. It “worked” but the ux was a disaster

Get a high vis jacket over a black polo shirt with an iron-on logo, a face mask, and sunglasses. Park out of sight or bike or walk up. You could probably swap most public hardware things with mesh node guts in broad daylight. Just sayin’. This is not advice.

Buy stocks in companies that you:
- Know and understand what they do
- Generally vibe okay with that kinda business
- See the appeal for consumers in a general sense
- Ideally don’t have a lot of other companies doing the same thing

They’re arguing that applying filters would degrade performance for everyone. So… to me that kinda sounds like accidentally doing the right thing.

I actually chose my words very carefully because I wasn’t sure either. Unpaid? Or the women volunteered without even being asked? I’d normally think the latter, but it seems pretty bizarre!

Not research, but artistic! And the article said the volunteers were unsolicited, so they were (presumably) happy to contribute to the cause!

Stuff I run:
- HomeAssistant (home automation)
- frigate (local foss security cam mgmt)
- metube (web gui for yt-dlp)
- technitium (dns mgmt with adblocking and many other features that make it better than pihole imo)
- pdfDing (foss for pdf library mgmt)
- netbird (in lieu of ddns, I use this self hosted vpn to connect to stuff when I’m not local)
- caddy (maybe similar to ngnx, this lets me use custom names so I don’t have to remember ip/ports to connect)
- heimdall (simple static dashboard)

I sent it to several friends and asked them “Have you had ‘The Conversation’ with your loved ones?”
- Comment on Hypothetically, if you have memory problems and need to write down events, is there a system which you can verify that its not tampered with? (Like a digital checksum, but for a journal) 6 months ago:
You could invent your own. It wouldn’t stop someone who was really determined to trick you, because the tradeoff between convenience and perfect security would likely leave you vulnerable to reverse engineering. But that being said, you can take your message, reverse it, Caesar cypher it, replace letters with numbers, drop vowels or spaces, etc etc until you’ve mangled it into a “hash” that only you know how to produce.
