- Comment on The Fairphone 5 is less about what comes in the box and more about what you get over the years 8 months ago:
That’s what my initial comment was about so if you’re this far without knowing that it’s pretty clear you’re not reading very well.
- Comment on The Fairphone 5 is less about what comes in the box and more about what you get over the years 8 months ago:
Used phones are ethically better than new phones. That’s a fact. If you buy used fairphones then that’s even better but they make such a bad product you have to buy it on ethics alone. If you’re buying on ethics then again, used is better.
You’re just spouting peak consumer copium and claiming it’s a fact.
- Comment on The Fairphone 5 is less about what comes in the box and more about what you get over the years 8 months ago:
I’ve listed facts here. But every time you come up with an excuse to consume more product.
It’s not like I’m recommending a specific brand and they’re actually some of the most common but you will always justify buying shit you don’t need.
You are simping for a private company that exploits labor just so you can feel better about buying another new phone instead of used.
- Comment on The Fairphone 5 is less about what comes in the box and more about what you get over the years 8 months ago:
Do they pay you to “yeah but” for them or are you just a simp?
- Comment on The Fairphone 5 is less about what comes in the box and more about what you get over the years 9 months ago:
But iPhones get long support, pixels now get 7, and S24 get 7.
Fairphone themselves even admits they can’t fix everything in production so a phone that was about to be waste is more fair.
If they built their phones in Germany or something I could accept the price but they’re made in China where labor standards aren’t exactly great.
- Comment on The Fairphone 5 is less about what comes in the box and more about what you get over the years 9 months ago:
I mostly can’t get over paying more for worse specs. It doesn’t have to feel bad now but with 8 years of support it could very easily not feel good in the future. It’s a $760 phone that benchmarks close to the Samsung A54 a $400 phone.
The selling point is the ethical value of the phone but it’ll never top how much waste buying a used phone saves.

I don’t understand how manufacturing in Korea is better than China. Hell, I’d call that pretty centralized still because it still relies on the same logistical problems.
- Comment on Why do (desktop) PC have so few USB ports ? 9 months ago:
I just see three cables on my desk for keyboard, mouse, and headphones and I prefer it like that.
Aesthetics are illogical and often times social conformity rather than personal desire. Like those stupid coiled USB C cables for keyboards that do nothing.

For me the notifications were the biggest gripe.
- Comment on Why do (desktop) PC have so few USB ports ? 9 months ago:
That way instead of having cables for data and power you can have cables for just power and pay more for the device.
I don’t understand the appeal of Bluetooth mice and keyboards while at a desk.
- Comment on Canada to ban the Flipper Zero to stop surge in car thefts 9 months ago:
Instead of a time based token they should have authentication. To start the car you need biometric or passcode or Bluetooth to connect and the fob.
For the life of me I don’t understand why my phone has better security than my car.
- Comment on Just 137 crypto miners use 2.3% of total U.S. power — government now requiring commercial miners to report energy consumption 9 months ago:
They’d still need some type of battery to make solar work though. They want to mine 24/7.
- Comment on Canada declares Flipper Zero public enemy No. 1 in car-theft crackdown 9 months ago:
The lack of arrestors is the issue there and the company should be liable.
- Comment on Sony is erasing digital libraries that were supposed to be accessible “forever” 9 months ago:
Pirating isn’t stealing because it’s addition not subtraction. You’re creating more of a thing not taking a thing away from someone who had a thing. Actually what Sony is doing here is closer to stealing as people had a thing they purchased and now they don’t.

Alcohol doesn’t really taste good and neither do cigarettes.
People often times have illnesses that make these types of things consume their life. It’s easy to look down on them but they honestly need help.

Thats not formatting. That’s like reading a book transcribed on post-it notes and calling it a format. It can be ordered, yes but I’m talking about paragraphs and complete sentences.
- Comment on Elon Musk's X claims it's now a 'video-first platform' as it tries to reverse an advertiser exodus that has cost it billions in value 10 months ago:
Likewise I don’t understand the difficulty in reading more than 140 characters.
But I’ve never used Twitter so when I experience the platform it’s through screen caps of tweets. Instead of having paragraphs and cohesive formatting it reads like a programmer who writes code all in one line. Sure, it can be done and it can be read but it’s fucking awful that it isn’t formatted correctly so that it is more clear.
- Comment on Elon Musk's X claims it's now a 'video-first platform' as it tries to reverse an advertiser exodus that has cost it billions in value 10 months ago:
I disagree with you simply because brevity is nice but not at the expense of nuance. Having to try to follow a string of tweets because one simply can’t suffice is awful.

They’ve been given to billions of people at this point and with a sample size that large it’s surprising how safe they are.

Does it really matter? You shouldn’t have to follow a tracker or be up to date on if a subscription service will have what you want. I don’t understand why the content can’t exist on multiple platforms at once.

I don’t disagree but I also don’t think it will be something that can be done very quickly. While switching propulsion systems in cars can be fine till the time that they are not needed.
- Comment on Fear Mongering About Range Anxiety Has To Stop — CT Governor Calls Out EV Opponents 10 months ago:
Ideally I’d like trains for local trips and high speed rail for longer distances. I’d prefer to not own or use a car at all but most cities would have to be torn down and rebuilt to achieve this.
