- Comment on Why are people downvoting the MediaBiasFactChecker not? 2 months ago:
Comment sections are for comments.
This is the fediverse. I feel like these kinds of bots should be emitting something other than a comment, just a generic "metadata" might be good. Then work to get that adopted by the various platforms.
Because comment sections should be a place for people.

He does not.
As wild as this timeline is, let's remember it could be worse. Vote. Care for your friends and family. Keep trying to make the world a little better.

Well, good to know there's no way forward but your way.

True, but I don't know everyone's situation.

But they didn't. The guy had me in the first half when he cried because Buzz Aldrin didn't like him. Elon wasn't always so obvious with his bullshit. There was a time when he looked minted as a purveyor of a bright future - the mask slipped.

I feel bad for the reasonable employees at SpaceX - this sucks for decent people.

Anyone who continued to run anything clearly from Russia after seeing the past decade of their trajectory under Putin is of questionable competence.

Are you running Home or a Pro-like version?

Install any popular Linux distro. They are all so much better than any proprietary OS. And if you are running relatively common hardware, everything will just work.

Guess everyone should just stay home until the whole world is bland and homogeneous but equitable.

You are mad and calling this dystopic but ... it's specifically been made to work in its location? Isn't this exactly what we want our environmental changes to support?
Shouldn't this be a sort of utopic example? "Look what we can do if we think carefully about interacting with our environment.'
If it's all lies or something, bring the evidence and I will be there supporting you. Otherwise, what is it you want, exactly?
- Comment on AI-powered network of Russia-based websites masquerading as local American newspapers is pumping out fake stories targeting the US election, investigation finds 4 months ago:
Functionally, when someone will not engage in good faith, what's the difference between a human and a bot?
If someone is not arguing cordially and supporting their position with facts, I don't care if they're human or not, they're a bot.
- Comment on Now that scotus gave the president immunity Biden can legally assasinate all of the conservative justices 4 months ago:
Article II Section 3 says the president shall take care to execute the laws faithfully. I do not see how a president could issue an official illegal order.

- Comment on Self hosting is hard. How do you overcome? 4 months ago:
🤷♂️ I could spend that two hours with my kids.
You aren't wrong, but as a community I think we should be listening carefully to the pain points and thinking about how we could make them better.
- Comment on Self hosting is hard. How do you overcome? 4 months ago:
Gonna just stream of consciousness some stuff here:
Been thinking lately, especially as I have been self-hosting more, how much work is just managing data on disk.
Which disk?
Where does it live?
How does the data transit from here to there?
Why isn't the data moving properly?I am not sure what this means, but it makes me feel like we are missing some important ideas around data management at personal scale.
- Comment on Kate Mulgrew told Rick Berman she wanted a gay character on the Voyager bridge 4 months ago:
As a cishet white male who dislikes Voyager, I would absolutely have enjoyed a clueless straight Tom Paris trying to set gay Harry up.
Instead he turned into a fish and kidnapped Janeway to, and I will be very gracious to the writing staff here, have consensual offspring with her.
Why did I tell myself I needed to watch that show? Worst trek. 😢
- Comment on Elon Musk laid off the Tesla Supercharger team; now he’s rehiring them 5 months ago:
My brother in business, I see you.
Once had to ask why the only woman our team was making significantly less. Got a shrug back from the HR director, a woman. I couldn't believe that I had to fight her to bring compensation in line.
It's not JUST the billionaires that are the problem. It's really all the people that need to feel they're somehow above others.

- Comment on [Serious] Why do so many people seem to hate veganism? 6 months ago:
I'll say that this reaction does nothing to make me think you are approaching this with any objectivity.
The argument, to me, seems to be that it's impossible in the modern world as things stand to actually totally avoid animal products. That would seem like an issue that Veganism should be concerned with.
I see your point, I think, about it being an individual choice. But though I have heard of things like vegan shoes, I can see how saying those are vegan when you may not control all the inputs seems problematic.
Regardless, your response was so unpleasant that I don't think I'm much interested in continuing.
- Comment on [Serious] Why do so many people seem to hate veganism? 6 months ago:
Can you explain what's wrong with this argument? As a relatively disinterested observer it seems reasonable to me.
- Comment on Why does the government of the USA stand by the country of Israel? 6 months ago:
We need to trust such a country to be judicious in their use of force, to not engage in any unnecessary conflict that puts both they and their allies at risk, and we want that country to be stable and share our values.
Israel is not demonstrating these qualities, at least not now.
Given that, why should we continue our support?

- Comment on Roku explores taking over HDMI feeds with ads 7 months ago:
History is littered with companies that decided they should "milk" their customers instead of providing new and innovative products. They usually don't last all that long, but you're right that the current board members might not gaf about any kind of longer term existence.

I don't want my money used for shit like this so Roku and I are done regardless.of if they exercise this patent or not.
