- Comment on Single-use e-cigarettes contain batteries that last hundreds of cycles despite being discarded 10 months ago:
Nicotine isn’t the only addictive substance in cigarettes. As someone who has quit both cigs and vaping, it was by far easiest to quit vaping. It absolutely sucked - but nothing compared to going off tobacco. I still get massive cravings if I smell someone smoking nearby.
- Comment on Walmart, Costco and other companies rethink self-checkout, some stores removing them 11 months ago:
You’d love what one of my local stores does then - they give you the option to register your fingerprints after they check your ID for when you want to buy booze in the self checkout!
- Comment on The Cybertruck Is a Disappointment Even to Cybertruck Superfans / Looking at the specs alone, the car is delivering 30 percent less range than expected for 30 percent more money 11 months ago:
You don’t.
- Comment on Boffins convert typing sounds into text with 95% accuracy 11 months ago:
This method is far older than that, and it keeps popping up every so often as a “new” attack. First time I read about this method was in the early 2000’s, and I’m pretty sure it been done before that as well.
- Comment on Bing loses search market share to Google despite ChatGPT integration 11 months ago:
I don’t have it handy, but I came over a github repo showing the different prompts that for example ChatGPT and Bing use - and realized right away why Bing AI is so bad in comparison. MS seems to not know how to write a good prompt, and it show in the quality of their product. Plus the fact that you couldn’t even save Bing chat conversations for the longest time, I’m not surprised they’re not ahead.

I was taught that dividing the numbers naturally into thirds:
I II III IIII (all I) V VI VII VIII (all start with V) IX X XI XII (all contain X)
Visually looks more “balanced” than having an extra V

Yeah, and a net loss of a bit over $1B. Revenue ≠ money in the bank.

I plead autocorrect, and that English is my second language 🤣
- Comment on New Study: 54% of American Adults Read Below 6th Grade-Levels 1 year ago:
As much as I’d love to jump on the “stupid Americans” bandwagon, this seems to be a big problem not only in America. After the reddit exodus and before I had a good setup for lemmy, I used Facebook for a short period. Most of my stuff there is from US, UK and Norway, and the number of people in the comments who can barely put together a coherent sentance is astonishing. Far below 6th grade level by any standard.
- Comment on Am I? Who knows 1 year ago:
How have I not heard of this series? Looks twilight zone-ish? Is it worth a watch?
- Comment on Am I? Who knows 1 year ago:
I’d definitely recommend them, though sometimes you’ll need to power through some dry bits. All the 90’s trek started out rough and only got better.
It’s not hard sci-fi, so the technology sometimes works the way the story needs it to work, but generally it’s pretty consistent.

That’s a really cool theory, probably the best I’ve heard! It’s established that there is a limited range, and that transporting during warp is possible, but extremely difficult, have to match the other ships exact speed etc., though they technically aren’t traveling faster than light but existing within a warp bubble.
