- Comment on Singlehood is on the rise around the world. New evidence suggests many single people are choosing to remain single and living happy lives. 4 months ago:
Aromantic asexuals exist, I'd imagine they'd be part of the people who are secure, at least in their not wanting a relationship. I am glad to see more people choosing this. I feel less people feeling like they absolutely must be in a relationship means fewer people are going to marry when it is not right for them, which leads to fewer divorces and fewer broken hearts.
Personally, I'd like to be in a romantic relationship but if that does not happen for me, then so be it. It would be nice to have but I also know I could be happy and fulfilled without one.
I took an attachment online test once and came out secure. Not sure if that has anything to do with my decision though lol

It would be pretty hilarious if "Math" was one of the foreign languages you could learn with Duolingo

I was going to ask why an innocent-seeming community was restricted to 18+ and then I saw the description of the community explaining why, so props for anticipating questions.

Genuine question, as a non-Twitter user, what was Twitter-style discussion that held value like? I only ever heard about it being a quick source for certain official outlets to broadcast to others, a place for political fighting and general nastiness, and about how you weren't able to have nuanced discussions within the small character limit.

I was always annoyed by the "LMAO everyone pathetic nerd stereotype" thing they did on Reddit, only partially because it assumed everyone was a man desperate for sex from a woman. Is this comment an attempt at a joke or a genuine assessment?
On another topic, I also remember hearing "the relationship advice subreddit is completely out of their minds" and all that stuff outside of the relationship advice subreddit itself—it's why I usually Googled articles about my problem or talked to human beings I knew in real life instead of asking on Reddit.
I used to go to fashion advice subs. Now, I still care about fashion but have figured out what I'm doing so I probably would not visit. I imagine another chilling effect is how fashion advice often involves pictures, perhaps of yourself, and the way the Fediverse works means it doesn't have to be the effort of one creepy individual to save and upload your stuff in the future, it's saved and reposted automatically so many servers that may or may not respect your delete request. It's the same reason I never posted any picture of myself on Reddit, but magnified by a ton.
- Comment on Beavers - a community to show off your cutest and funniest SFW beavers 11 months ago:
I wasn't aware of "beaver" as a sexual slang term until I watched a Lockpicking Lawyer video and now I'm certainly going to remember it thanks to this post having to specify that the beavers should be SFW.

I’ve personally never heard a rendition of Jingle Bells with a horse whinny and whip crack. Which one is this?
- Comment on Name That Song - A community for getting help identifying music 1 year ago:
The way it worked on Reddit was that people would post a link to a small audio clip of them singing the song or playing what they remembered of it on an instrument. You could also talk about what happened in the music video, what kind of voices were singing, etc.
If I tell you I can’t remember the name of a tune commonly played at Christmas that has a couple recordings with singing and some just as an instrumental, and on the instrumental there’s a horse whinny and whip crack? You probably know I’m talking about Sleigh Ride.

all the news content posted by the mods will be entirely readable on Lemmy.
I don’t even like Forza but came here anyways to say props to you for that, seems like it’ll be a great community for Forza fans
