- Comment on Tesla Cybertruck Owners Who Drove 10,000 Miles Say Range Is 164 To 206 Miles 9 months ago:
You’re still not comparing apples to apples. The people who actually need something like this (not this specifically because we both agree it’s bad) would not be using it to tow just a small trailer. I agree the cyber truck is bad but the comparison still makes no sense.
If you believe them, Tesla says the cyber truck can have a 2500lb payload and tow 11000 lbs. That’s a whole different ballgame than your geo metro which officially doesn’t even have a towing capacity.
Some people actually use trucks for their intended purposes instead of a status symbol.
- Comment on Tesla Cybertruck Owners Who Drove 10,000 Miles Say Range Is 164 To 206 Miles 9 months ago:
Ok, now try to do the things that trucks are typically used for in your geo metro. Towing, transporting construction tools and materials, etc.
I’m not defending Elon because I think the truck looks dumb and is over priced, but you gotta compare apples to apples.
- Comment on the best time to find another job is when you already have one. How does it look like in your case? 9 months ago:
Just look whenever you have the time. If you have to take a call or an interview during your work hours, just say you have an appointment. You don’t need to give any more information than that.
If you work in office, try to schedule things during your lunch.
- Comment on OpenAI CEO Altman says at Davos future AI depends on energy breakthrough 9 months ago:
I like how many years ago, the limitations to programming was the hardware. This led to programmers needing to be creative with their solutions. Maybe they should find better ways to train their AI…
- Comment on People who order "a decaff coffee with an extra shot" - why? 10 months ago:
You can make espresso with decaf coffee beans.
I wonder if they make their coffee more like an Americano, so you do a shot (or two, or three) or espresso and then add some hot water. This takes the traditional espresso shot, which is more concentrated, and changes it to a more drip/filter style taste.

The more moves I see like this, the more I wonder how anyone in corporate finance has a job.

I wish removing a song from my Discover weekly or similar lists actually worked. I swear I remove the same song from that playlist for months and it still shows up.
- Comment on The full source code for GTA 5 has been publicly leaked 10 months ago:
There’s no way this is true. I can literally think of similar code as what’s in GTA V, I have never opened the link. Does that open me up to a law suit? That’s crazy.
- Comment on YouTube just made it harder to avoid ads with a tiny skip button 11 months ago:
That’s the most frustrating part. I don’t mind watching limited ads. I get you gotta pay for your shit somehow. But don’t give me 30 minute ads, and don’t haphazardly place the ads in the video so there’s no transition from an important part of the video to your ad.
I typically use an adblocker but for some uses (smart TV) I’m too lazy to set up a workaround. It doesn’t bother me that much.
- Comment on YouTube warns it might make your viewing experience worse if you don't turn off your ad-blocker 11 months ago:
So I’m a little lazy and have to watch ads when I watch YouTube on my TV. I don’t care enough to fix this.
Anyways, I don’t mind the short ads. I get it, you gotta pay for your stuff somehow. What I don’t get is these ads that can stretch on for 10, 15, even 150 minutes. I think I had a 3 hour ad at one point. It’s insane. You should have to opt in to these ads that are longer than say 30 seconds.
- Comment on It shouldn't matter if people work multiple jobs. The former VP of HR at Microsoft shares how to react to double dippers — 'get over it.' 1 year ago:
I think the main difference is the time scale for their responsibilities.
For your average worker, they generally have daily tasks or responsibilities. Your c-levels generally “solve” the larger problems. The timeline for those isn’t daily but probably quarterly or longer. This would allow them to take on another role because of how the deadlines work.
Not saying it’s right, but just trying to explain it.
- Comment on Consumers are paying more than ever for streaming TV each month and analysts say there’s no reason for the companies to stop raising prices 1 year ago:
There’s a scene in Fight Club about how auto companies approach recalls, and a similar method is applied for these price hikes. The company predicts how many people will leave or change plans or whatever with their changes and they price it out so that they end up making more money.
And for a small example let’s say you have two customers paying $10/month for a service. If the price increases by $11, and one customer leaves, you are now making $21/month from the service.
Now it’s not as simple as that in the real world, but that’s the general idea.
The issue here is that even if a vocal minority leave these streaming services, or social media there’s still a large amount of people putting up with their shit.
- Comment on Microsoft may replace the Start button with the Copilot AI in Windows 12 1 year ago:
The product people who determine this shit need to be fired. If I had to guess, they’re over there planning this in Macs and shit. Force them to use their product and that will help resolve these dumb issues.

- Comment on Tesla wins first U.S. Autopilot trial involving fatal crash 1 year ago:
I would hope that for a new piece of technology (EVs are still new imo) that they would find a robust way to keep track of any logs. If you make a car and the second it is in an accident all the logs disappear, then what’s the point? I’d consider that negligence.

- Comment on The average car purchased in 2023 emits higher levels of carbon dioxide (CO₂) than its 2013 equivalent. This is due to the large proportion of SUVs in the mix, which tend to be bigger and heavier. 1 year ago:
The title is confusing. It starts by saying “compare the 2023 model to the 2013 model” and then mentions that the mix of cars has changes (proportion of SUVs in the mix). I feel like the title should have been “The average car purchased in 2023 emits higher levels of carbon dioxide (CO₂) than the average car purchased in 2013.” Then you can explain “This is due to the large proportion of SUVs in the mix.”
There needs to be more proofreading and editing of articles before they are published online, as the title here is a direct quote from the article.

- Comment on Spotify re-invented the radio 1 year ago:
I used to not mind paying for Netflix because it was better than trying to pirate things. That has changed 😅. It’s still easier to pay for spotify premium than try to pirate music. However, I would be cautious as they may try to make additional changes to the premium tier (price hikes without actual useful additional features) that would make it not worth it. Looking at the year in review that spotify does every year, and I listen to a TON of spotify between work and personal use I probably listen to 12+ hours a day so it would take a lot for me to ditch it but not impossible.

Are these actually developers getting laid off? I recall seeing similar posts like this last year and it turns out they just laid off middle management and sales positions, and kept the actual devs
- Comment on ‘Archer’s’ Final Mission: Sterling and His Frenemies Sign Off After 142 Episodes of Awful Behavior. We Will Miss Them. 1 year ago:
Hey no issues here, happy to learn about new things.
I never watched The X-Files but with winter coming up it’s always nice to have some new (to me) shows to watch.
A spinoff would be the way to go if you want to extend a series. I’m not quite sure who you could do that for in Archer. I was thinking like Better Call Saul (a fourth show has entered the discussion). I think that was really well done but I’m not sure a similar thing could be done for Archer and be as successful.
I hope you enjoy your rewatch of The X-Files!
- Comment on ‘Archer’s’ Final Mission: Sterling and His Frenemies Sign Off After 142 Episodes of Awful Behavior. We Will Miss Them. 1 year ago:
Always enjoyed Archer, didn’t realize this was it. However, I am kind of glad it’s over. I hate seeing things continuously dragged out just because it makes the networks some money. I hope it ends in a way which the creators and cast are happy with.
I look at Supernatural as a prime example of this. End it after 5 seasons. It could have been great, but seasons 6-11? or so were really bad IIRC. There was a great story arc that they should have just left alone.

- Comment on Meta admits that it trains its AI on your Instagram and Facebook posts 1 year ago:
Yes - I would be concerned if they were training it off of messages or DMs as those have some expectation of privacy. Which … they probably are but have fun sorting through years of memes.
- Comment on 15 More Free to Play Overwhelmingly Positive Steam Games 1 year ago:
I stopped playing dota after thousands of hours because I got fed up with the community. I only have a certain amount of time I can game now and it’s frustrating to waste that little bit of time with super toxic and raging teammates. Does it happen in every game? No but it happened enough that I don’t want to risk it.
It looks like they finally are working to fix that, however I transitioned over to a new game - Path of Exile. It’s great, the only person I can blame for mistakes now is myself 😀.
- Comment on Microsoft Needs So Much Power to Train AI That It's Considering Small Nuclear Reactors 1 year ago:
Yeap. They are trying to train the AI quickly, not over the course of 18 years.
Also, it’s early still early for these AI/LLM tools. The first few iterations of things are generally not very efficient. After you can prove it works, THEN you can make improvements to it, make it more efficient, etc.
However, I think that the approach of feeding in more power instead of optimizing it is the wrong approach. I feel Microsoft could get further ahead of it could find ways to train models more efficiently 🤷
- Comment on Amazon Has Turned Into an Monopolistic Shithole Littered With Pay-to-Play Ads, FTC Lawsuit Solemnly Argues 1 year ago:
Amazon Prime: 2 day(ish) delivery.
Maybe they mean on average they deliver prime products in two days and that’s why there’s an increase in the next day products.
