Wait, so you are saying you have either lived continuously on a 29ft boat for 5 years, or only have visited land by dinghy or something while its anchored?
Wild. That’s got to be a nasty looking hull though.

Also, there are mechanisms in place(assuming this is an American post). I know because I’m taking advantage of them.
I’m poor, at a respected university, and about graduate with a Bachelors. Might have spent 3k overall on school. Pell Grant was amazing.
Aint a perfect system, but still works a lot of the time

Or you are admittedly a repeat offender, which would likely also increase your fines in Finland.
Heres NY, which I can imagine we ageee isnt Nowhereville.
trafficsafety.ny.gov/penalties-speeding
Minimum fine for up to 10mph over is 45$. 90$ for 10-30mph over. 30+mph over is a minimum of 180$

Weirsly confrontational?
auto.howstuffworks.com/…/cost-of-speeding-ticket.…
Average ticket is 150 in America, which is pretty close to 135.
So a speeding ticket in Finland likely wouldn’t benefit poor people, but it would hurt rich people more.
- Comment on Get to work, crackheads 11 months ago:
The minimum cost of a speeding ticket in Finland is €125 which is closer to an average American speeding ticket, not the minimum.

Eh I would rather have had a discussion, summary or explanation than read a 400 page book for a random interesting claim
Here’s the book if anyone’s curious
I couldn’t find any Techdirt articles with substance in the claim, but I’m not going to listen to podcasts so maybe thats where any details of the claim are hidden

That was a fun read with some interesting facts I never knew… But I think you put some weird spins into it.
Like I don’t think Americans are commiting 3 felonies a day, and I’d really be curious about the explanation of that.
And I dont think lying about your age is applicable to the CFAA without some wild lawyering to consider it impersonating someone else to gain unauthorized access to gain data.
But maybe I suck at understanding legal writing

They called me. The area they started feeling squirrelly in is pretty much my “backyard”. If they were in serious trouble, they would have contacted S&R, but in a rush I can get to any peak relatively quickly. You’d be surprised with how fast someone can recover from exposure/minor heat stroke with just some Gatorade, shade and water poured on them
Might not be the recommended method, but it has a 2/2 record for me so far ha
- Comment on Hikers rescued after following non-existent trail on Google Maps 1 year ago:
So, the proposal would just to make it more difficult to access trail maps? Seems like that wouldn’t be advantageous in scenarios like mine.
- Comment on Hikers rescued after following non-existent trail on Google Maps 1 year ago:
Twice I’ve had to find people I know heatstroking out on trails in the mountains. I found them due to dropping pins and being able to follow the trails they’ve followed on Strava or Google Maps or whatever.
They probably would have went up there without trails being on Google maps, but I probably would have been bushwhacking to find them if I couldn’t see the trail networks to know where they went.
I vote against removing trail maps. Hurts the good just as much, or more, than it tries to mitigate the bad.

Yeah, I hate how normalized these shit comparisons are for arguments.
One effects a few hundred people and doesn’t really have much depth to it and is relatively inconsequential . One is extremely complicated involve a large percentage of Americans lives.
It’s like saying “Oh look, Biden had time to make a Truth Social account but not stop the war in Gaza. Wtf”
I am not putting any opinions on anything besides how disparate comparisons have become…but the fact that these type comparisons are constantly repeated online does reflect a lot on Internet culture.

I don’t think I agree. Pretty sure a 2 door jeep is still a sport utility vehicle

yeah. turns out animal rehibition isn’t very profitable and I wasn’t really expecting to end up in a responsible/respectable life. We bought what we could afford.
I take my electric skateboard to school when I can(weather permitting) , but I will choose shitty emissions for a 10-50 mile drive to save an animals life over letting it die or live in a cage. and honestly, I am only going to school to get money to expand the rehabilitation… I will try to get a vehicle that is better for the environment when I can afford it though.

But, you don’t believe the “American Culture” is popular? I’d be real interested in a counter argument to the fact it is popular. It’s pretty easy to show that American media and politics are pretty discussed or enjoyed around the world.

My Ford Taurus isn’t going to get into the Uintas or Wasatch range. Getting rid of my SUV will really hurt my wifes ability to release rehabilitated animals.
But, I don’t want to be a stupid fucker. What should I get after I get rid of my SUV?

Why not? American culture and linguistics are extremely popular around the world.
Maybe since modern America is so young, people dont associate it to fantasy?
