This, tbh. You don’t get bullied for something, you get bullied because bullies want to bully.

From my understanding of your earlier comment you said casual Threads users will find out about Lemmy servers for the first time and I asked about how that will work out from the perspective of a threads user. I hoped for an answer of that.

What do you mean by “find Lemmy servers?” I mean, can you describe how that will look like from the perspective of someone that is using threads? And how that will motivate more common people to change the platform or browsing behavior?

What is concerning is his wording about “to leave threads”. Consider that whatever saying in this interview is carefully laid out beforehand. What reason is there for a corporation that is living of it’s users to just so casually let them leave like they please with everything that is giving value to Meta? He is not talking about wanting the users to leave threads, but to be able to migrate either direction. Who is going to win that fight in the end? The corporation who’s solely goal is to win or the free and open community that is so tolerant that it invites the beast it fled from?

Great, so he is already talking about how to extend activityPub? He says that like this function will be a one way street. This is literally what many here are talking about.

Great and such, but the large majority that might come to the Fediverse will never look nor use that function. If we don’t defederate with our instances now, we never will.

Netflix definitely increased 1080p compression (or said better, nerfed it). 1080p even looks a little pixelated on my mobile phone now when it looked great on a PC monitor a few years ago.
- Comment on Streaming costs are rising, and there are more platforms than ever to choose between. Some people are going back to piracy 1 year ago:
I mean, there literally are complex websites created just to help people find and filter for streaming services that serve a movie or a series under what conditions or prices and the results are so fragmented and unsatisfying. Hell, so often a simple classic movie is on none of the streaming services or just on one on which you even then have to pay even if you are paying for a subscription (looking at you, Prime). So what the f, how should I happily decide for a subscription if the next day I have to yet pay for another one just because a effin movie is on another platform? Streaming has become a damn chore.

I was always wondering why so few people don’t complain about the interface. It’s abysmal. An absolute minimum of functionality in an unintuitive layout that’s always changing. What the absolute fuck. And all streaming services adopted it.
- Comment on The Windows 11 problem 1 year ago:
Yeah the hardware I’m running can easily run cyberpunk and any other modern game with satisfying FPS. Yet, it has no 8th gen CPU so I’m not able to upgrade. If I would upgrade my CPU just for win 11 I would have to replace my mainboard and then my GPU would bottleneck which would be, well, sad, so I would feel like I need to upgrade it too … And well, we know where this leads. I’m just not in for this ride just for Windows 11. I already use Linux on a different drive and prepare to fully switch to Linux. It’s just for gaming that I still use Windows and I feel like Linux could really “profit” from Microsofts decision to ditch Windows 10 under this conditions.

If there just was a way to micro pay for a single article. But no, it always has to be subscription based.
