I think there’s plenty of use for a computer in the woods, particularly for automation, telling time, etc. just not any task that requires internet obviously.

Definitely not. Sometimes you even have to install additional bloatware like “HP update assistant” because the built-in update system is dysfunctional af.

By providing transparency, auditability, and traceability throughout the food supply chain.
Or in other words it prevents fraud. If the input data is falsified and people to get sick, it’s just a matter of plugging in the QR code for the contaminated product. - Comment on Please Stop 2 months ago:
and?
- Comment on Please Stop 2 months ago:
That’s an incredibly wrong oversimplification.
Git doesn’t have any consensus mechanisms, chaincode execution or ledger, is just a history tracker & manipulator. Neither Git or Hyperledger fabric are centralized, they’re both distributed.
Just because it’s used for specialized tasks and distributed only within a select few instead of being a big inefficient permissionless PoW/PoS craptocurrency blockchain doesn’t make it any less of a blockchain with smartcontacts and works. - Comment on Please Stop 2 months ago:
There prior database lacked transparency & real-time tracking making tracing take days.

Walmarts proprietary food tracking blockchain.
- Comment on Please Stop 2 months ago:
That highly depends on what blockchain implementation is being used and what it’s being used for. Blockchains used for craptocurrency is highly inefficient, which is the vast majority. But their are a small handful of specialized blockchains that are just efficient enough to be practical.

You can use blockchain technology for a wide variety of things, just please more cryptocurrency and NFTs.

This is utter fuckin nonsense.
Not a single zoomer gives a fuck about landline phones, not even Zillennials who grew up with land lines. - Comment on Microsoft in their infinite wisdom has replaced the Hide Desktop icon with Copilot. 2 months ago:
I’d argue that’s still not a very good comparison, because for ROMs you have to go through the trouble of researching the specific method for your phone brand, model, & firmware version, learning adb, unlocking the bootloader, flashing a custom recovery, then from there you can install a custom ROM. Then if you fuck up you have to figure out how to debrick the device.
While Linux(user friendly distros specifically) is just burning an ISO to a USB, possibly changing 1 or 2 settings in the BIOS & booting from that USB, then just clicking through a graphical installer like calamares. The barrier to entry is drastically smaller. - Comment on Microsoft in their infinite wisdom has replaced the Hide Desktop icon with Copilot. 2 months ago:
What gets me is the replies like “just wipe it & reinstall the whole thing”.
Yeah right, like I’mma spend an entire hour wiping, reformation and reinstalling Windows, then varying additional time reconfiguring everything for a problem that likely has an extremely simple solution but they’re too lazy to gather the necessary information to actually solve it.
Assuming that the Windows installer doesn’t fuck up and I have to restart the install process again, which has happened to me several times.
At least Linux takes 5-10m tops to install for the user friendly distros.
Even I, a Linux user who’s spent hours upon days debugging kernel issues for my hardware can see how fuckin stupid that shit copout advice is. - Comment on Microsoft in their infinite wisdom has replaced the Hide Desktop icon with Copilot. 2 months ago:
Do these things allow me to define functions and to call them on focus change, on windowshade, on iconification, on other events? Can I evaluate text returned by a command spawned in those as part of my config, at any moment? Can these functions differentiate between windows by mask? By state? BTW, can I have custom states? Can I have conditionals there? Schedule those functions? Change that schedule?
Yes.
I wouldn’t. These are different things for a different workflow.
And nobody cares about your workflow, sorry. Go convince one of 3 other people.
Where there? Yes. consulting the official documentation. It not that fuckin hard dude.
I know you are not an adult.
You’re the one who immediately started name calling dumbass.
