- Comment on You can still enable uBlock Origin in Chrome, here is how 1 week ago:
This is great for those who just need a little extra time to migrate to a better browser. Hopefully, they’ll take this as a short reprieve if they didn’t hear the screaming warning already. Unfortunately, most people will just keep using the crap shoveled onto their plate.
- Comment on Belkin is ending support for nearly all its Wemo smart home devices 1 week ago:
Keep posting these articles. We have enough tech companies out there creating piles of useless electronics in peoples’ home. I’m sure there are some who will just blindly go buy the next thing, but there are growing numbers of folks who are starting to refuse to buy into these ecosystems because we know they’ll be artificially obsoleted. Eventually, this will turn into a money issue for these companies who invest heavily in proprietary or semi-proprietary stacks.

Of course it hasn’t. He can just publish it and all his ball licker fans will just gobble it up.
- Comment on AI is driving down the price of knowledge – universities have to rethink what they offer 1 week ago:
AI provides no knowledge and only makes its users dumber for relying on it. Don’t we have enough SciFi episodes out there to have already learned this lesson?
- Comment on Tailscale addressing concerns over potential enshittification of the platform 2 weeks ago:
I always look for the companies that are advertising heavily. If we could see their books, I’d say the ones that spend more on marketing than engineering, product, and ops are likely the ones who will enshittify, eventually. They are building the product or service to sell later so they are trying to drum up users and corner the market.
Unfortunately, this is just about everything in the US now.

The companies that don’t by into this hype are going to be positioned well when the bubble bursts.
- Comment on Reddit in talks to embrace Sam Altman’s iris-scanning Orb to verify users 4 weeks ago:
I only hang on to a few subreddits that don’t have equivalents here. This would be the final nail in the reddit coffin for me.

If you haven’t already, divest yourself of MS software and services.
- Comment on First Porn, Now Skin Cream? ‘Age Verification’ Bills Are Out of Control. 4 months ago:
In the laws references in the article, the need for #1 and #3 were caused by social media. Yet we target the individual rather than the social media company for the fix. Let’s don’t fix the source of the problem but we can make life more difficult for many millions of people. How dumb are we in this country?
