- Comment on do you combine stair climbing with running when working out? 2 days ago:
I do 2700 steps, 2k elevation gain every friday (for the last 6 months) + hiking. My cardio has improved drastically but I am still terrible at running. No drawback really - maybe too much upper leg muscle eventually?
I live on the 4th floor, my breathing doesnt even noticably increase after climbing up, which is great.

0.99999… repeating equals 1. Not close to 1. Equal to 1. The monkeys will necessarily type hamlet somewhere in the sequence. If your group of monkeys hasnt typed it yet, double the number of monkeys.

It is necessarily 100%. That’s the whole idea behind infinity. There is a 0% chance of rolling a “2” because it’s outside the bounds of the question. Theres a 0% chance of the monkeys typing in chinese too.
- Comment on How exactly does one eat 1500 calories a day? 3 months ago:
As someone who lost 60lb this year: just stop eating ultra processed garbage. Find real foods that you enjoy, and make meals out of those. Eat as much chicken, vegetables, fruits, unsweetened yogurt, fish, eggs, etc as you want and you will lose weight. Unhealthy stuff is fine to eat on occasion but only if you consider it well worth the calories and you are aware of how much you’re eating. Dont mindlessly eat a family size bag of doritoes that you dont even like that much. Dont drown yourself in vegetable oil. I stopped buying loaves of bread, sweets, cereals (why are entire aisles of grocery stores dedicated to this garbage?) , carb-based snacks, etc.
Also no, working out does not mean you can eat a snicker’s bar for free. The new Kurzgesagt video explains how that works. I dont believe you’re gaining or even maintaining your weight at 800-1000 calories, but im just a random person.
The costco rotisserie chicken is only $5, just dont eat too much skin. Yogurt can be affordable and high in protein. Almond milk too. Nuts & beans are decent. Just look at protein to calorie ratios on cheap stuff so you maintain muscle, im sure you can find plenty of foods that work.

Well that kind of comes as a result of the whole ‘tracking your every move’ part

Guess we’re not the target audience of this article, along with 99.9% of other americans. It’s pretty hard to relate to someone that has $8 million in junk just lying around in their home.

- Comment on Palworld isn’t slowing down, hits 19 million players across Steam and Xbox 9 months ago:
It is missing too much to call it like factorio or even rimworld as you cant even set task priority or do much optimization, but it has the foundation and could certainly go that route with some major ai improvements.

It did what ark failed to do for years and polished the shit off

I also just got a new job jan 1st. Submitted applications for a few positions, got an interview with 1 and an offer. 40% salary increase. Meanwhile my company was talking about how they couldn’t offer any raises because the job market was so bad right now lmao.

They probably assumed people would know which state they’re talking about. Classic Maine character syndrome.

Baldur’s gate, Elden ring, Factorio, Stardew valley, Terraria, Subnautica, BotW, Hollow Knight, Project Zomboid, Kenshi, Rimworld, Risk of Rain, Ori, RDR2, Slay the Spire, Valheim.
Plenty of amazing games. If literally none of them are enjoyable, you may have depression.
- Comment on Microsoft Teams' oddest feature is getting a major upgrade | TechRadar 1 year ago:
Maybe let me disable the useless emoji feature that pops up on mouseover rather than right click, maybe make it so copying messages after a triple click doesn’t copy the timestamp and sender by default but rather just the damn message contents, maybe add some of the incredibly useful features that apps like discord added years ago ie adjusting volume of specific people in a call, better noise filters, customization options beyond the extremely basic options they have right now, etc.

Darkwood is terrifying especially with perma death on. Less emphasis on jump scares, more on terrifying environments and suspense.
- Comment on Firefox will have a built-in ‘fake reviews detector’ — Amazon is in trouble 1 year ago:
I tried posting a negative review that mentioned a quid pro quo (offered a gift card in exchange for a 5 star review) and Amazon removed it for not being relevant to the product. So baseless 5 star reviews are allowed but not 1 star reviews.
- Comment on The Fediverse should do what redditors have always wanted and Reddit Inc. has always refused to do; Distinguish between NSFW and NSFL. 1 year ago:
Downvotes help to mitigate disinformation, ads, etc. It’s a big reason why old reddit posts are such a good resource for so many topics. When any random idiot can post garbage on the same footing as an actually useful comment, you end up with Facebook or those copy paste/AI articles at the top of Google searches.
- Comment on Online Ads Can Infect Your Device with Spyware 1 year ago:
You wouldn’t ask your boomer parents to block ads that will likely get them to install viruses or get scammed? They are easily the demographic that would benefit the most from ublock.
- Comment on Immune to marketing 1 year ago:
This is true even today. Ads are shady af and even the top link on Google is often a literal scam/virus. Ie for years if you looked up the most popular game client for runescape - runelite - the very first link was a fake version that stole your login info. They paid Google and Google said ‘not my problem’. Not to even mention ads on other sites like Facebook. Even in the cases where an ad isnt a blatant scam or virus, ads are inherently dishonest by design and there is no consequence for using them to lie about your product.
