- Comment on I bought frozen BBQ eel and the best before date says LJ349. What does this mean? 7 months ago:
Damn this one is tough my best guess LJ is like how the manufacturer tracks it internally or something like that and the 349 could be like eat before the 349th day of that year. Again this is just a guess probably contact the manufacturer to be 100% clear what that means.

- Comment on Router recommendations? (under 100CAD) 8 months ago:
Top of my head: like a Linksys MR7340 hydra should have enough ram and storage for openwrt for a few years iirc but only 3 Ethernet port so a switch might be needed. Think its 50 USD rn but I’ll have to double check that. Another option would be like a used Linksys AC2200
- Comment on Portable monitor recommendations? 8 months ago:
Actually was doing some research on this the other day for a friend and here’s what I found.
Used:
-
ASUS ZenScreen (MB16ACE) 15.6” - buy used for around 140$ USD on amazon maybe cheaper on eBay
-
ViewSonic VG1655 15.6 Inch - buy used for around 120 USD on amazon maybe cheaper on ebay
New: ASUS ZenScreen (MB166C) 15.6" - currently limited deal of around 100 USD new. Its the best bang for your buck imo

Appreciate the feedback I’ll definitely look at that if I ever need to debloat again. Assuming yes but does it function the same when used on android tv? Don’t particularly have one just curious

Just to clarify to not confuse OP. When you say dilute that means mixing it with another oil, right? Like coconut oil or something?

- Comment on Second hand disks? 9 months ago:
Regardless of where you get your secondhand drives do yourself a favor and make sure they package them correctly (1-2inches of bubblewrap and a cardboard box) by messaging for that. That’s my biggest complain when I brought used drives. Think Serverpartdeals and goharddrive are the main eBay sellers with great reps but I sadly haven’t done business with them so can’t verify

- Comment on Google Promises Unlimited Cloud Storage; Then Cancels Plan; Then Tells Journalist His Life’s Work Will Be Deleted Without Enough Time To Transfer The Data 11 months ago:
Yeah that’s a possibility but that massively depends on the level of surveillance the journalist is under but lets assume moderate. With that in mind, the only method I can think of would be physically hiding the drive/s in the other house (more paperwork needed on the for the alphabet people) in a place that would still be accessible, with permission of the owner of course. Don’t know how thorough raids are at looking for stuff but I can think of a couple places that may be sufficient if its poor to moderate job. Be screwed if they’re combing the entire place though so the journalist would have to rely on encryption

In fairness their backups were taken by the FBI so they at least had something besides Google. In hindsight the offsite backup would of protected them from both the FBI and Google if he stored them at a trustee’s home

Damn didn’t even think about that. Do you think they at least encrypted their files?

- Comment on Ifixit gives fairphone 5 a 10/10 on repairability and maintanence 11 months ago:
Iirc the chipset, QCM6490, will lose support after 2028 meaning the device will get at least 5 years of security updates and not the promised 8. Pretty sure that’s why grapheneOS doesn’t/won’t support it since the company doesn’t keep to their promises
- Comment on Ifixit gives fairphone 5 a 10/10 on repairability and maintanence 11 months ago:
Thats true but I was referring to it being useful for travelers or as a work phone. Just being useful when you don’t want to expose your personal device
- Comment on Ifixit gives fairphone 5 a 10/10 on repairability and maintanence 11 months ago:
Crap meant security updates I’ll edit it in but their phones overall. The company is notorious for not providing full security updates for the promised length which can end up jeopardizing the customer. Then specifically for the fp5 there’s the lack of a secure element and iirc verified boot but I could be mistaken
