This community really likes Pinkie Pie lately. I consider myself part of this community.

lemmy.com does appear to work though (redirects to lemm.ee, not sure who hosts it)

Lemmy even has great web apps (not including the vanilla site).
- phtn.app (great desktop ui)
- alexandrite.app (vanilla-like)
- vger.app (mobile focused)
It’s just missing secure OAuth based logins.

- Comment on Valve have just updated the Source 1 SDK on GitHub to the latest code based on Team Fortress 2, effectively making TF2 code source available 2 weeks ago:
This is the first I’m hearing of that, but I would assume any project would get sued if they copied any art assets, songs, and trademarks (logos, characters, etc). And at the time, any code they used would be suspect because of the TF2 source leak.
Obligatory IANAL.
- Comment on Not the Toll Roads Notification of Toll Evasion!! 2 weeks ago:
Nowhere does it say you have to pay the additional fee. If the punishment for not paying a late fee is another late fee, there is no late fee.

They obviously haven’t visited old.lemmy.world
- Comment on What do you think about centralised clients? 2 weeks ago:
I’ve been using phtn.app, which defaults to lemm.ee.
Though I think a big difference between the fediverse/activitypub and bluesky/atproto is authentication. If you want a centralized app, you gotta have a centralized identity server. Otherwise you’re freely giving your login credentials to a random server, which we as a society decided was a bad idea.
I can see a possible solution involving OAuth, which I believe Mastodon is able to support. See the relevant GitHub issue at LemmyNet/lemmy#1368

decentralized ai bot
Sounds awfully similar to a botnet. I hope the compute is sourced ethically.
- Comment on Defaults are crucial for good UX and getting more users on the Fediverse 3 weeks ago:
I would suggest something like phtn.app as an alternative desktop frontend (also has mobile view support)

There are 8K cameras, but the only reason to use them is to create stabilized 4K content.
- Comment on For-profit Pie Adblock (from the founder of Honey) called out for copying uBlock Origin open source code without credit 1 month ago:
For-profit ad blockers make their money from either ad injection or extorting ad companies to whitelist their ads. This is why the original adblock plus fell out of use.
- Comment on For-profit Pie Adblock (from the founder of Honey) called out for copying uBlock Origin open source code without credit 1 month ago:
Closed-source browser extension Pie Adblock was this week accused of copying code and text from rival uBlock Origin in violation of the latter’s software license – the GNU GPL version 3.
