- Comment on PasswordManagement: which one of these options would you choose? 1 year ago:
Vaultwarden. And take regular back ups. I don’t trust my passwords to be safe anywhere other than my own servers. The chances of my server being hacked is very less.

Did you check whether the new IP assigned are any different. Once it happened that my old ISP had ip range 192.168.0.x. but the new ISP had ip range of 192.168.1.x
This made my machine not accessible.
- Comment on SearXNG: Is it possible to add widgets? 1 year ago:
Yeah. I don’t think you can. But I really like this feature from Google search. I currently run my own instance of Whoogle. Neither does whoogle have a good way to show these widgets

I think they should’ve added in brackets with the second point saying “hopefully”

Maybe he did mean the loin king. It might be a brand selling loin cloth.
But if that is the case I’d have to disagree. “Loin king” manufacturers of loin cloth are definitely not overrated. The number of times those have saved my ass…

When did McDonalds ever want to give value to customers. They took away the one reason customers visited their joint.
Or as a shrewd business, they could’ve simply sold these for a few bucks.

I mean, I’d be threatened. And I’d possibly buy the kid the toy.
But then, I would snatch it from him. When he screams, then I’d quote his own words and say he hasn’t been honest. Most of the time they start to feel guilty. Or don’t understand and start to scream.

I would never say no to using older hardware. Yeah, it’ll be like punishing yourself. But you learn a shit ton.
I recently started self hosting. I started on a PC with the same specs as you’ve said. Booting was an issue. And tons of stuff always broke. But i learnt a lot. And then there was a time, when i genuinely thought i could do better and switched an old laptop with decent specs.
Pi’s are very expensive and too dang low on supply.
So always make do with what you have. If it’s your first home lab, then yeah go ahead. In a few months switch
