The theoretically vast availability has made me quick to abandon games that didn’t deserve it. I’m having a lot of difficulty committing to even some objectively good games. I don’t enjoy the bouncing around and yet I keep doing it. It feels related to FOMO.

On top of that, I have personally developed some gaming habits that I don’t care for at all as a direct result of gamepass.

Agreed

We watched this exact same tactic happen with Xbox gamepass over the last 5 years. They introduced it and left in the capability to purchase the “upgrade” for $1/year. Now they are suddenly cranking it up to $30/month and people are still paying it because they feel like it’s a service they “have to have”.

Organize, is the point they are driving at. We the people have the numbers to be literally unstoppable, the trick is getting all those people moving in the right direction.
- Comment on BioWare’s Anthem will soon be completely unplayable 4 weeks ago:
It has always been the empty shell of a really cool concept. It was really fun to fly around and shoot at bad guys for 5 min, but beyond that and the graphics Anthem was a joke.

- Comment on 'Huge respect to the folks at Obsidian': Todd Howard invited Obsidian devs onto Fallout season 2's set so they could see New Vegas in the flesh 2 months ago:
I’m not saying Metacritic is the end-all be-all, but it does confirm the most commonly held opinion about the popularity of the modern games. You may think that there is a real debate here but that just isn’t the case. 4 and 76 are pretty firmly the less well received of these games.
- Comment on Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 mods are flowing, offering quicker movement, more blood, and a manicure 3 months ago:
Just another watered down action adventure that all of our favorite IPs of yesteryear have turned into. Despite all of its jank Bloodlines was one of my favorite games growing up and I’m not even really interested in this one. I mourn for the game this could have been.

- Comment on What are the best free mmorpgs for a beginner? 6 months ago:
You may consider what it is you’re looking to get out of an MMORPG before you just jump in. Speaking as someone who played MMOs for about a decade (mostly WOW, but several others as well), you would be surprised how insidiously that type of game can alter your habits. Also, MMORPGs could be absolutely mind numbing at the height of their popularity, modern MMOs are so heavily streamlined that I would argue many aren’t even all that fun to play anymore.
I’m not saying MMOs are bad, or that you won’t enjoy them, but maybe just think about what the fun you’re seeking looks like.

- Comment on The USA spends $15k/student annually which is 30% higher than the global median. Why do U.S. schools have "fundraisers" where kids are incentivized to sell stuff to people? 8 months ago:
This doesn’t really address the whole of OP’s question though. They are asking why our schools are so underfunded if we are spending so much more than average per student. The maths don’t math.

The are encouraging you and all other non-Americans to not fall asleep at the wheel like we have. The system that allowed this shit show to develop has been building for decades and we allowed it to happen.
Do not allow it to happen where you live, because the oligarchy is coming for you too.
- Comment on [deleted] 8 months ago:
No offense, but if you are an American adult and don’t understand why so many posts are political right now you probably need to be reading them. We are probably going through the most problematic power shift the world has seen in 100 years and if we The American People don’t start fighting back substantially we are looking at losing most of our rights as free citizens.
It’s that fucking serious.

If you have calm discussions and listen, you will absolutely 100% see that most people are actually quite alright. Even if they dont like trans people, they will eventuelly get there, by having discussions and chats and seeing them in the real world.
Respectfully, you have no idea what you’re talking about. I live in Texas and I am surrounded by the conservative mindset. There is a chittering madness about these people that causes them to frenzy any time something triggers them as being “woke” or “trans” or in any way challenging to their narrow world-view. They cannot be reasoned with, I have tried far too long with no effect. Their beliefs are couched in white christonationalism and the stupid masses having their stupid beliefs vindicated by bad actors in positions of power.
