afaik in germany you can just get a cat even if you signed that you wont get any pets at all and they cannot do anything about it (unless they specifically excluded dogs or someone closeby has cat hair allergies etc)

imagine doing a super expensive once in a lifetime trip to see this place and you get stuck so close to the goal.
the site is very remote, so it takes a while to get there. enough time to get sick. the country is poor. a lot of it is in bad shape. people are living absolutely miserable lives.
so hygiene is an afterthought at best… roughly 1/3 of every european visitor gets to experience Montezumas revenge in their guts and has an absolutely shit time before experiencing these incredible places.
not invalidating the protesters, they likely have to use this nuclear option because its the only thing that works against the corrupt people in charge
