LLMs make the problem even worse
its way worse, a couple of years ago id look something up (had to be somewhat popular) and find a few clearly bullshit articles because they follow similar scripts, and rarely make new ones.
nowadays every time I look something up there’s a new ai article site that talks about this very niche thing im looking for, and skimming through it looks somewhat convincing
- Comment on Considering that LLMs are trained on the whole of the internet, it's kind of amazing that they don't talk back to you like a condescending, smug asshole 6 days ago:

Youre not actively buying from them by using what you have. nobody buys a downgrade.

- Comment on Netflix Becomes Max-Level Patron Of Blender's Development Fund 2 weeks ago:
I tried using freecad a while back my previous experience being two years in blender and light designs in fusion360 that i picked up very quickly
designing a very simple shape that would’ve taken me a minute on blender or fusion, took me a good 20-30 minutes navigating errors and ui to find simple tools like extend, even after being found, making them work is an extra hassle
I would love to use freecad but its not worth the learning curve for me when i only design basic things to 3d print
- Comment on Windows 10's extended support ends in eight months, but users are still rejecting Windows 11, at least in Germany 2 weeks ago:
for anyone afraid to make the jump to linux do it, now is the time. especially if you have an amd gpu unless you absolutely need software/games that does not support linux (and I dont mean the millions of windows games proton supports effortlessly, just a handful with kernel ac, and some pro software)
too daunting to research and learn? try in a vm and use llms to help you understand how things work
took me a week to get comfortable in arch linux after around two decades of windows

- Comment on LLM's despite all the flaws it probably made it easier to switch to Linux. 2 weeks ago:
moved to arch linux cold turkey with the help of LLMS to customize and explain just about everything now I have baseline knowledge to debug and modify my OS if what the LLM says doesnt make sense or doesnt work, I just look it up like usual and read arch wiki or some other forum

it would be easier and cheaper to hook up an llm to a game engine and asset store and let it churn out “games” but they dont know shit do they

- Comment on Study Claims 4K/8K TVs Aren't Much Better Than HD To Your Eyes 3 months ago:
well yes a microscopic 4k display is no different than a 1080p one to our eyes.
but theyre claiming it doesnt matter on TVs in the usual setting which is just untrue.
- Comment on Study Claims 4K/8K TVs Aren't Much Better Than HD To Your Eyes 3 months ago:
simply incorrect. in some circumstances sure 1080p is sufficient, but if the tv is big, close, or both. then 4k is a definite and noticeable improvement.
4k looks sharper as long as the actual content is real 4k, even from afar.

The only thing the internet allows you to do is find information.
You don’t need “pre internet information gathering” experience to figure out where information is held. I know the location of many libraries off the top of my head.
I can go there, figure out the system they use, read a few books to find what I need, then head home.

and you think youre special? most people who cant read shit on paper cant read it on the internet. “reading books, and manuals in paper format” doesnt take that much brain power
