So what potential conflict would require your troops to know the government district of another country other than you trying to invade them?
- Comment on Satellite images reveal China built a replica of Taipei’s presidential district in remote Inner Mongolia, fuelling speculation that Beijing uses the site as training ground for an invasion of Taiwan 7 months ago:
Mongolia is an independent country. Inner Mongolia is a part of China and lies south of Mongolia the country.

- Comment on [Eric Berger] Seeing this eclipse is probably the highest-reward, lowest-effort thing one can do in life 7 months ago:
Except of course, when it’s cloudy. The only eclipse that ever happened where I lived in my lifetime was a total disappointment because you couldn’t see anything.

Imagine getting your knickers in a twist over bullshit like this. Don’t people have anything better to do?

Those twits are at best closet conservatives.

After listening to Malthusian panic from “conservatives” for over 50 years, I savour the irony.
- Comment on Google reshapes Fitbit in its image as users allege “planned obsolescence” 8 months ago:
It’s not great, but on par with other WearOS devices. Definitely room for improvement, though.
- Comment on Google reshapes Fitbit in its image as users allege “planned obsolescence” 8 months ago:
Fitbit had plenty of quality problems even before the Google acquisition. I think this is a bit overblown. I am concerned, though, that some day they’re going to EOL the Fitbit phone app and force people to use some half -baked, buggy Google alternative with basic features missing. As they do. That would be the day I switch to Garmin.

Me too. Basically I just use a Chromecast for everything. I also have a Linux PC hooked up to the TV but that’s just not very convenient to use while lying on the sofa.

The former mod of /r/jailbait has everything under control. The IPO is going to be a huge success, no doubt about it.

- Comment on What's stopping people who lash out at the world from going after corporations? 8 months ago:
Those people tend not to be the brightest sparks. They’re more susceptible to believing conspiracy theories that provide simple answers than doing any rational analysis of the root causes of their problems.

It’s delusional. The problems we have are not caused by lack of technology and cannot be solved by new technology.
