Thank you for phrasing it as a question. I can answer, but only for myself. I am a person and I like this community. I suspect others who have joined it do as well, by I’ll let them chime in if so.
I do appreciate you leaving a comment rather than just downvoting.
Have a good one.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to disable them. I don’t want to live in an echo chamber or silence critics. Facing criticism will strengthen worthwhile ideas.
And it would rob the actual users of the instance of the ability to downvote content we don’t approve of legitimately.
But I do like that you’ve been making the voting and vote bombing transparent.
Is there a script or another way to make the voting parties visible to all users rather than just the admin? Or make it so a flood coming from external sources would be visible or filtered in some way?

Thanks to both of you for the follow-up and extra info. Hopefully the federation issues get resolved in this recent or future releases.

I like monero.town too, thanks for your work on it.
But Jeknila seems to be on to something with the comments not showing in other instances.
Is there a way that one instance can filter out or block users from a non-local instance from having their comments display?
I’ve made some elsewhere in non subscribed, non local instances, and while they show for me in my profile and while logged in, they do not in fact display publically when checking that same instance in a separate uncached browser while logged out. And I rarely, if ever, get replies or up/down votes from comments made elsewhere.

Out of curiosity, I opened a separate browser to check a bunch of comments I’d made at lemmy.world and while they show for me in my comment history while logged in to my local instance on my profile, they do not show when browsing while not logged in at the other non-local/non-subscribed instance.

For those in the thread who say it is hard not to go back for specific content, if you want to go back to browse but limit the ad revenue and clicks, you can still reach it with some front ends like teddit.
Here is a good link: farside.link/teddit.com
Or, for example, you can directly access subreddits by appending /r/yoursubreddit to the end farside.link/teddit.com/r/memes
Sometimes an instance will be down. If so, try it again in a few minutes or in a new browser or tab or clear the cache so another loads.

Sorry to anyone who sees my multiple duplicates on this thread, but most only get notification of direct replies.
I’ll copy/paste a comment I made above again here in case it helps

- Comment on Is the rslashmonero experiment funneling our community back to Reddit inadvertantly? 1 year ago:
Yeah, I like this idea too. I don’t mind the @RSS reddit scraped posts, but for those that don’t I assume someone could build a bot or script to collect them into one daily or weekly post this way. If it is a separate bot or profile from the current @RSS one each user could block one or both as desired.

I like having the ability to still see what’s going on over there without visiting myself or giving Reddit any traffic. I see it as similar to browsing headlines in a news aggregator to keep up with what’s “trending” even if I’m not digging into or engaging with the content. So long as it remains easy to filter it out of your feed here, as Blake suggested below by blocking the @RSS profile, I think more options are better than less so each user can decide.
Plus, if you found a particularly compelling topic it might be worthwhile to go engage with users there, either in thread or in direct messages, even if it were just to let them know we are over here. I’m hoping this community continues to grow and all the good posters and topics eventually migrate here.
