But you don’t in Australia? The digital verification schemes are bad too but they can theoretically be done in a privacy respecting way.

I was mostly teasing. I do believe, as you seem to, that rights are eroded from the edges and that is one reason it is important to protect activities we disagree with. 'Protect the kids" is often used to deny rights to adults but kids are legitimately protected by the laws of society from a lot of predatory things. The social media ban doesn’t stop adults from doing anything or make them do anything so it doesn’t fit the case for sneaky control like cisa or gun control in the US or chat control in the EU. I don’t think advertisers should be able to advertise directly to children. Teams of human psychology and behavior experts crafting the most addictive product available and being able to constantly live A/B test their newest ideas is bad for kids. It’s bad for adults too but to each their own.

It’s like when the government took slot machines from kids, then cigarettes, then alcohol… A never ending erosion of rights that serves no legitimate purpose.

- Comment on We need libraries, but instead of books, you borrow musical instruments. 6 days ago:
I’m not sure what you’re trying to get at? How is a library having instruments for people to play different from libraries having books to read?

That’s neat. I never gave ansible playbooks any thought because I thought it would just add a layer of abstraction and that containers couldn’t be easier but reading your post I think I have been wrong.

Always and eternal is the carsinisation cycle. One glorious day we too will realize the optimal form and shuffle sideways into Nirvana. Together, as a species, we will snip the ties of suffering that bind us to this samsara.

- Comment on Nearly all of Spotify has been scraped and is available via torrents 1 month ago:
Something as easy as stremio but for music. Connect to listenbrainz instead of trakt. Then only serve from the spotify collection because of their extensive metadata. With multi device sign in and syncing like stremio. Then a Kodi add on for the libreelec people.

People doing duster are not usually the same people doing nitrous. In my years of working in a hospital, duster addicts were the worst of the drug addicts mentally and physically.
- Comment on It Only Takes A Handful Of Samples To Poison Any Size LLM, Anthropic Finds 1 month ago:
like the LLM that was finding cancers and people were initially impressed but then they figured out the LLM had just correlated a DR’s name on the scan to a high likelihood of cancer. Once the complicating data point was removed, the LLM no longer performed impressively. Point #2 is very Goodhart’s law adjacent.
