It’s a bankruptcy auction, and he’s bankrupt because he was sued by Sandy Hook families. Some of those families gave money to the Onion to buy InfoWars so Alex Jones is losing his platform and his money.
It sucks for him more than it helps him really.

Yeah they do, I’m just pointing out that the law doesn’t say a business has to. Sorry, being pedantic
- Comment on Peloton announces $95 “used equipment activation fee” 2 months ago:
The people getting up in arms are upset because they see it as a slippery slope. First just the idiots pay for subscriptions, then it creeps into the lives of everyone. And eventually it’s harder to avoid the bullshit than just pay, and the whole market becomes more predatory. Like if the idiots give companies an inch, they’ll eventually take a mile

Sadly I think they’re legally allowed to not serve gay people in certain states. The minimum is just hiring gay people :(

I switched banks because of this, from a local credit union to an online only bank. I hate that I had to, but the random online bank treats me better and charges me less

I can think of an America specific reason to not block all communication with the outside world in a school. Even if every room has a wired landline that worked and was accessible to students and teachers
- Comment on NCSoft president: "The games industry's evolution towards acceptance and diversity is ongoing" 3 months ago:
Black Girl Games is one of several consulting companies that promote more diversity in games and other media. Not to exclude white people completely.
Let’s see what we can agree on here, please stop me when you disagree with my statement.
-
Racism still exists and is a problem in the world today
-
The best tool we have against racism is knowledge and exposure to other cultures and ethnicities
-
Having more than two or three AAA games with a main character that is a minority will give gamers that first hand experience with the represented culture
-
Therefore, more representation is good for combating racism and as an extra benefit is giving more diverse worlds/stories to play
-
There are still a metric buttload of games with white main characters or character creators that let you be white
-
Minorities will be happy to see themselves represented
-
Diversity is not the enemy, and companies are trying to level the playing field, not erase white people
I want to know specifically what your problem with dei efforts are so we can clear up any confusion.

- Comment on CrowdStrike offers a $10 apology gift card to say sorry for outage | Some of the people said that when they went to redeem the offer, they got an error message saying the voucher had been canceled 3 months ago:
Nope, wife works at a hospital and they don’t have a paper backup of everything. They were affected by the outage and it was apparently a pretty tough night.
They can still work, but there obviously will be a serious delay switching to paper everything. You might want to look into the legislation that you’re thinking of to see what it specifically says.
And I’m pretty sure there are ways to prevent what happened that have nothing to do with having medical professionals chart everything on both a computer and on paper. That just sounds really inefficient.

Blatantly false title. Please don’t exaggerate and add inflammatory commentary that’s misleading, it detracts from the conversation.

- Comment on Tesla loses EV market dominance, falls below 50% in US [unit sales in 2024Q2] 4 months ago:
You may disagree, but it is a pretty widely agreed upon distinction. It’s a symptom of the issue of a fractured left wing. The left leaning communists wanted to distinguish themselves from the left leaning capitalists, so they started calling themselves leftists and not liberals.
It’s just a bunch of different labels, it’s not really set in stone or definitive. I totally understand why you disagree.
My point really was just that a conservative calling someone a communist isn’t insulting to a lot of self described leftists because they are communist, it’s mostly just considered an insult to a conservative. Kinda like calling an alt right person a Nazi is an insult from a leftist, but plenty of alt righties wouldn’t be insulted because they are (jk but not really but jk)

Leftists are communist though. Liberals are the progressives that prefer capitalism
- Comment on Alternative uses of a 3D printer: Toner transfer on a watch dial 4 months ago:
Be careful with inkjet photo paper in a laser printer. In particular, the glossy paper will typically have a coating that may come off in the laser printer due to the heat and pressure the printer uses, and that can cause issues over time.
- Comment on FCC hits Verizon with $1M fine for dropping 911 calls, again • The Register 4 months ago:
It was also the second time it happened. It was a mistake, but one that really shouldn’t have happened. And it was minor in terms of how long it was down, but not having access to 911 is potentially a major issue.
People are just sick of companies not being held responsible for repeated incompetence which often comes from cost cutting measures.

Bad company makes bad ad, people say it’s bad. Sure, kinda pointless to talk about, but it’s just another reason not to buy it and tell others not to buy into their anti consumer crap.

I believe tidal actually has a larger library than Spotify, and offers a tier that lets you listen to higher quality of music. Similar pricing to Spotify I think. I had it for a while and really liked it, only stopped paying for it because I’m broke so I’m sailing the seas for now
- Comment on FCC explicitly prohibits fast lanes, closing possible net neutrality loophole 6 months ago:
Because companies like to make money by breaking the status quo when there aren’t any rules.
It’s the thing they like to do most honestly, and why we need to make rules when we see open loopholes
- Comment on Chinese startup launching RISC-V laptop for devs and engineers priced at around $300 6 months ago:
The difference is that the CCP has a lot of control over Chinese companies operations.

The vast majority killed aren’t terrorists. Just yesterday, Israel killed seven World Kitchen humanitarian aid workers in their World Kitchen labeled cars that were authorized by Israel to be there. Three cars, targeted one after another, all bombed. The tops of the cars had the logo so they wouldn’t be bombed.
The IDF is a terrorist organization

Like the time I called someone a zionist shill, I kinda get. The first comment of mine that got removed was a pretty supportive pro-trans comment but maybe the mod thought I was being too aggressive toward the person I replied to? Anyways, love that there’s that transparency here
