Why do we measure fuel consumption in l/100km and not in μm²?

Why not manually configure a LAMP stack, editing your dotfiles with ed?

Sir, I don’t understand. Who needs a sysadmin in the cloud anyway? All you gotta do is push a button, sir.

It seems absurd that even in a time where drones and laser-guided artillery are ubiquitous on the battlefield, the most important defensive weapon is still the shovel.
- Comment on ChatGPT is losing some of its hype, as traffic falls for the third month in a row 1 year ago:
It’s not “replace someone doing 40 hours of work a week”, it’s “allow someone to do what used to take 40 hours in 35 hours instead”.
That someone will then still have to work 40 hours for the same pay, but be more productive, so then 1 in 8 of these someones can be fired.

- Comment on According to Elon Musk’s own math, the company formerly known as Twitter has lost 90% of its value and could be worth just $4 billion 1 year ago:
Terrible for him
Not really, and that’s the obscene part. Literally absolutely nothing changed about his standard of living by losing $40B.
He could have solved world hunger for years with that money, and wouldn’t even have had to give anything up for it. - Comment on it's weird that we are prepared to die for democracy, yet willingly enter dictatorships daily for work and spend the majority of our waking lives with people we vaguely know 1 year ago:
I’m not prepared to die for democracy.
I’d rather live my life. - Comment on Are there linux alternatives to ChromeOS? 1 year ago:
No but you can easily make it. Install Arch (which I use, by the way), set it up to launch a lightweight window manager and set that up to autostart Firefox in full screen mode.
- Comment on How did people refer to clockwise movement before the invention of the clock? 1 year ago:
It’s all based on 12, which is nice cause it’s divisible by 2, 3, 4 and 6.
A system based on 10 gives you issues if you want to divide the year into 4 seasons, the day into morning, midday, evening and night, the compass into cardinal directions, etc… - Comment on Unions are like condoms 1 year ago:

- Comment on Weather app 1 year ago:
I use the Weather Forecast app from F-Droid, which uses yr.no data.
Not because that’s always the best, but because that data maybe literally saved my life once.(I was hiking in the Alps with friends and yr.no showed a snow storm coming right where we were headed that day. Everyone else including a local guide said it’s OK since their weather report didn’t show it, and they went on to climb over the next ridge. Me and my friends were the only ones who descended into the valley instead. Later that day, we noticed a helicopter rescue was started on that ridge and the next day we read that one of the hikers had died that day)
