I use names from movies, TV-shows or games.

miyagi (pfSense, Fujitsu Futro) kratos (Main server) boy (lxc container on main server) nicknack (ThinkCentre M93p tiny) nas-t (Truenas) cosmo (Desktop PC) To name a few. Easier to remember when they have silly names 🤷

I just have a shell-script running daily that runs the smartctl short test and checks certain S.M.A.R.T. values and pings healthchecks.io when successful. Easy and seems to do the job.
